Horde Variant: Goblins

Casual*

Gobbin

The first of the series of horde decks i will be posting for everyone's use. Each one may or may not have some changes to the core Horde rules; if i do not describe a change that contradicts the core Horde rulings on a matter, then that rule is unchanged.

Goblin Horde is balanced for a group of 5 or more allied players. It is meant to use a combination of numbers and tricks to mess with the battlefield to challenge you. As such, rule changes are as follows:

The deck consists of 80 1/1 red Goblin tokens (represented here by lands) and 40 nontoken Goblin creatures.

Mana costs for Horde goblins are paid for by the same infinite pool as is used to summon creatures.

If a horde goblin has an activated ability, at the start of combat on the Horde's turn before attackers are declared, flip a coin. If heads, that goblin's ability is activated. Flip coins until either that goblin is unable to activate its ability or the flip comes up tails. If a coin flipped to activate a horde goblin's ability comes up tails, that goblin loses all activated abilities until end of turn.

If a horde goblin has a triggered ability, flip a coin when the criteria for that ability to trigger are met. If the flip comes up heads, the ability resolves as normal unless countered or otherwise interfered upon. If the flip comes up tails, that goblin loses all triggered abilities until end of turn.

During combat on any turn that is not the horde's, if attackers are declared, starting with any untapped creature tokens, the horde will assign one blocker to each attacking creature if able. The order in which the horde determines what to block with is determined by highest toughness first, after all available tokens have been assigned. If an attacking creature has trample, the following rule applies:

If an attacking creature not controlled by the horde has trample, after all non-trample creatures have been assigned a blocker, the Horde will attempt to assign legal blockers whose sum Toughness exceed that attacking creature's power.

In addition to revealing cards from the top of the horde deck and casting those cards until a nontoken card is cast before combat, the horde will do so again after combat has resolved.
