I can't wait for Fate Reforged to come out!
Hey guys and gals!
This is a Mardu walker | Mid-range deck that I arranged but I'm pretty sure someone out there has already made. This is my take on it and would like to take it for a spin.
I feel the removal spells are needed against creature decks and the only thing I am not geared against is the control decks. I don't feel control decks are not a thing, at least right now... Besides the U/W and U/B decks out there, which are not popular ATM.
I would love some suggestions against control decks. If you suggest something, please LMK what cards it should be remove or replace. This is a spell heavy Mardu deck and is something I'm excited about.
Planeswalkers:
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
- He's just a great card! His plus 1 is scary on my opponents POW. His -3 just fits into this mid-range removal strategy. His ultimate is pure card advantage...duh...
Sorin, Solemn Visitor - In this deck is little weaker towards aggro decks, Sorin helps with that by providing life-link to the creatures and the +1/0 is helps pumps the tokens from the Goblin Rabblemaster and Elespeth, Sun's Champion. Though this deck is spell heavy and Sorin's +1 may not hit as much. In those cases the -2 ability works well with my featured card which is Butcher of the Horde.
Chandra, Pyromaster
- Her +1 is great for aggro decks and it helps when I'm attaching as well. She's mainly in this deck for her zero ability because this deck is spell heavy. She's only a one of partially because she's just awesome!
Thanks for your time and I appreciate all your future suggestions!
Creatures:
Butcher of the Horde - This a beast of a card and is an overall power house that needs an immediate answer from my opponents. Synergizes well with Goblin Rabblemaster giving the much need life-link after using thoughtseizes.
Goblin Rabblemaster - This card is awesome and fits well in this deck. It forces opponents to deal with it and provides early board presence.
Stormbreath Dragon - This creature is a great card. It provides evasion and the haste is good. The pro white offers answers to Banishing Light,
Suspension Field
, Chain to the rocks,
Reprisal
, Utter End, just to name a few. It is still weak against Elspeth, Sun's Champion and End Hostilities.
Enchantments:
Chained to the Rocks
- Is a great removal card, it is weaker against stormebreath dragon but it can answer Abzan's creatures. What Chained to the Rocks can't take care of, Crackling Doom will! :D
Spells:
Hero's Downfall - Is a great removal spell and hits a lot of big creatures that most decks are running ATM. It is an auto include since the Walkers Strategy became popular when the Jund-Walkers (M15) deck came about.
Lightning Strike - Just an popular include with the current meta game. Cost is low and the 12 points of damage is not too bad. Plus it's easy to decide to remove it when Sideboarding. Otherwise, it deals with Goblin Rabblemaster,
Seeker of the Way
, and
Mantis Rider
! Lightning Strike is my bug zapper!
Thoughtseize - Is an overall great disruption and mainly aimed against the Adzan and Jeskai decks. Boarded out during sideboard against aggro decks.
Crackling Doom - This card is one of my more preferred removal spells. It can deal with the mirror,
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
, Stormbreath Dragon and it can deal with Sylvan Caryatid in the early rounds.
Despise - is a good removal and continues disrupting my opponents hand.
Mardu Charm
- Just fits well in this deck. The hand disruption is awesome and plus you get a peak!
Utter End - Only a one of because of the casting cost but included because of the exile mechanic. Exile does help with delve, especially when Dig Through Time is a thing. Hey that one card, with that one spell, and that one mana - can really make a difference in that one game! ;)
