So first ever deck I have posted to Tapped out and to an extent the first brew I have done (only been playing about 10 months). Been toying with this idea since M15 was spoiled and I'd like to use this description to explain some of the choices I have made. Aiming for a mid -range decks- Enough creatures to pressure control decks and enough removal to deal with creature decks
I must stress that this deck is preparing for rotation when khans drops so no RTR etc card suggestions please.
Firstly, I like demons and hydras. Green is my favourite colour in MTG and even though I rarely play black, it really helps this deck.
So my thoughts:
Elvish Mystic and Sylvan Caryatid standard dorks, they not only help me ramp in to green quicker but also help me smooth out black mana for my removal.
Courser of Kruphix helps me reach land quicker and gives me life gain, which if I put
Herald of Torment
in will be sorely needed.
Genesis Hydra
love this card!! I am hoping that I can play some free spells by using his X value. I have considered adding blue to this deck and using
Prognostic Sphinx
to manipulate draws but I'm not sure about using blue.
Hydra Broodmaster another one of my favourite hydras! With the devotion this deck can build I expect to be able to drop at least 5 5/5 hydra tokens. One of the win conditions of this deck.
Nylea, God of the Hunt Trample. Purely in there for trample.
Polukranos, World Eater
sticking with the theme of hydras he omnomnoms tokens and low power creatures.
Indulgent Tormentor I really like this guy. I like the choice it forces my opponent to make, sac a creature or lose three life to stop me drawing an additional card, or allow me to draw. I feel this will be very good in the long games/ after I have stabilized allowing me to gain the advantage.
Hero's Downfall
Silence the Believers
and Thoughtseize standard block removal, helps me disrupt my opponent's plays.
Garruk, Apex Predator
Both +1's will help me, destroy planeswalker to save a Hero's Downfall and creatures to protect him or my life. The lifegain will come in useful, especially if I do eventually run
Herald of Torment
. Rarely do I get to use a walkers ultimate so I'll ignore it.
Nissa, Worldwaker
not sure if she works in this deck. The creatures are nice after stabilizing and untapping land is definitely awesome for boosting monstrosity effects etc but other than that I don't see much use in her. I may drop her to 2.
Liliana Vess works with
Genesis Hydra
to allow me to manipulate my deck/ board and add more creatures. Whip out a hydra broodmaster to push for game etc.
Land is pretty self explanatory. Dropped some of the scrylands as I feel they are slow and the life lost through the pain lands, I can easily gain back.
I know there are some major cards, I've missed out on such as Chord of Calling and I am completely open to changing my theme from hydras and demons to anything that is G/B that will help me smash face, because at the end of the day I am a competitive person and want to WIN!!
So there you have it, please comment and make suggestions as to how it can be improved or if you like the deck.
