IDEA OF THE DECK

The way the deck wins is by beat down Merfolk Branchwalker , Steel Leaf Champion , Blanchwood Armor , by sudden death God-Eternal Rhonas , Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi , even Blanchwood Armor , and in a rare case it wins by ramping and casting Finale of Devastation X=10, Arboreal Grazer , Nissa, Who Shakes the World , Nissa's Triumph . One note, Scapeshift has been pretty popular lately. Well 2/2 BLACK zombies can't block the brunt of this deck's damage.

The Cards.

Lands: 25, all forests. The reasoning for 25 lands is that it helps keep your lands falling after the first boost from arboreal. All forests because I really want to be able to play nissa with five lands and next turn be able to cast finale for X=10. Also Steel leafs are 3 green.

MVP Arboreal Grazer : Do NOT underestimate this card. with three lands in hand you can guarantee a steel leaf on turn two regardless of wether the opponent has a shock in hand. It can't be shocked by red, taking a minimum of a 3d bolt to kill. Against tempo blue it can simply keep their curious obsession from hitting you, (the reach is SO useful!) which wrecks their tempo which is exactly what they don't want! This card is amazing give it a chance. NOTE, This blocks thief of sanity infinitely.

Llanowar Elves : Couldn't have 6 arboreals. Also if your screwed at 3 you can search up a Llany with finale.

Merfolk Branchwalker : Originally had Growth-Chamber Guardian in this spot the games when he shined were too far in between to be worth it. He's an amazing card but Merfolk Branchwalker just outdoes him in this deck. Drawing lands is great here, and he can absorb a shock just as well as a GCG, better actually, because you get some value on the way down. GCG had a good body for Rhonas to use once adapted, but branchwalker still is decent in that category and with a Rhonas trigger they become 4/1's even without a counter so Goreclaw will turn them into 5/2 tramplers.(The Goreclaw trigger is actually more important than you'de think)

Nissa's Triumph : Also an underestimated card. Deck thinning, curve helping, surprisingly good! (Only good enough to run two though) Works really well with arboreal as well.

Thorn Lieutenant : A one of, good against aggro decks, mono red specifically. Having 5 two drop creatures makes for more keepable starting hands.

MVP Vivien, Champion of the Wilds : Played a game against control, they couldn't counterspell anything until late in the game, and after they just cast kaya's wrath I flashed in two Steel Leafs. 'Nuff said, but I will say a little more. In the control match ups not only is the flash invaluable, but the card draw every so often is awesome too. Against Aggro you can immediately put her at 5 which is 5 more health if they attack her. Finally against creature matchups being able to attack with a massive creature and still have it untapped to block is huge, as well as flashing out a blocker they didn't know you had. Oh did I say finally? Sorry this card is too good I'm gonna keep rambling. She's oddly sticky, and she can bring the battlefield down to earth, observe: TEMPO BLUE: "Nice 2/2 curious Pteramander you got there, pity I have reach. SARKAN THE MASTERLESS: "Do you wanna trade your planeswalker for a 3 drop?" DRAKES: "I'VE GOT REACH."

Blanchwood Armor : "Hey, I didn't know this card was in standard." Well guess what, it exists and it is awesome. Blanchwood offers almost unmatched power and can be applied to Arboreal turn 2 to turn it into a turn two 3/6 able to attack, a Steel Leaf for a form of unblockable, and Vine Mare for hexproof and unblockable by black the fact that it relies on having a creature as well as a substantial number of forests in your deck keeps this card from being played in most decks. This deck however, meets those requirements almost all the time. Forests are no issue, in fact we'll most likely have more than is usual for a mono green deck due to nissa's triumph, and running 25 of them. As for having a creature, our creatures are large and fairly hard to remove. Against Mono-Red a Steel Leaf requires two bolts, and against other types of removal... well hexproof is a thing.

Steel Leaf Champion : Speaks for itself 5/4 statline for 3, with semi unblockable. The semi unblockable is actually crucial to winning some games, allowing you to finish them off with a (for lack of a better word) Rhonased 10/4, currently unblockable. I will be so sad when this rotates out.

Vine Mare : H-E-X-P-R-O-O-F, completely invaluable. The current meta is shifting more and more towards targeted removal, despite the fact we have 4 mana board clears. While vine does look kinda sad at a miserable 3 health, it can't be bolted anyway! Hexproof just allows you to have a fighting chance against a lot of decks that would otherwise reck you, and with vine mare you get that at 4 mana! Lastly unblockable by black is actually useful more than you think.

Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma : Search this up with Finale to give everything the trample you need to get through any number of chump blockers. Quite good when you draw it as well.

MVP God-Eternal Rhonas : This card is rarely seen outside Ilharg, the Raze-Boar decks, but this guy is a beast! he has ended so many games for me, killing the control player when they tap out for Teferi, suddenly turning the tide in a creature war, and just outrite killing someone with an unblockable Steel Leaf or Vine Mare. Fun Fact when you have two you can play the second and keep the first to swing with a 10/5 deathtouch vigilance creature. The vigilance is also amazing against creature wars allowing you to swing out and have everything still to block.

Nissa, Who Shakes the World : Double mana, constant creatures 3/3s with haste, and has an ult.

Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi Surprise! 9/9 with HASTE or I used it on your end step at instant speed. A 9/9 is big.

Carnage Tyrant : Mostly here to grab with Finale against control, but is great when drawn as well. The reason for not running more is that it is simply big and bashy, but does not end the game when he drops and can be wiped without doing a thing. Whereas everything at my high end directly does something when it enters.

Finale of Devastation : Whether it's searching up a Llany or giving everything +10/+10 and haste this card is good.
