Inspired by the recent trend of orzhov token decks like "Like the Event Deck, only Good. ", "Orzhov Tokens 2.0" and "Swarm and Conquer V 2.0" I really wanted to do build a token deck as well.
The problem is I don't really like playing black. Now I know those Orzhov decks don't play it that extensively, but i still didn't wanna go there.
So I decided to combine it with an archetype I love: Soulsisters.
Yupp, I'm ditching Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek for lifegain. But this might lead to gigantic Ajani's Pridemates which is something I endorse. Also it makes the Manabase so much easier to handle (and cheaper).
I know this has probably been already done to a great extend, but I wanted to give it my own try.
Here are some thoughts/reasonings on the individual cards:
Your everyday soulsisters gang.
The usual suspects considering token production. In my head I'm still arguing about Midnight Haunting over Lingering Souls, thus far the souls are favored because I don't want to run out of token production.
The buff.
Path is self-explanatory, I'd think. Brave is in there to protect soulsisters and pridemates. I put it in over Rebuff the Wicked since even though I love the idea of non-blue counter magic, brave just saves more stuff more consistently. Also it can be used to alpha strike with all tokens.
The chapels allow me to flashback my Lingering Souls for the small cast of playing one of my 14 plains before T4. I didn't do the math, but it seems highly probable. Windbrisk Heights allow me to cast token producers at instant speed while attacking or play an anthem when the opponent decided how to block.
Sundering Growth is just a better Naturalize In this deck. I put Blind Obedience in to slow affinity down, but am questioning that thought process, I'd have to play it T2 and the affinity player must have a really bad draw. Rest in Peace has been a great help shutting down Treasure Cruise, Living End and Melira Pod. Grand Abolisher is to stop control from interfering.
The deck is not set in stone at all. If you have any suggestions let them come. But keep in mind I'm one of those measly university students, who don't have the spare change for four Marsh Flats (and has almost all of the deck already at home). Also I don't really wanna change the basic structure, but I'm willing to discuss that.
