Take all the precious cards from your opponent.
I’ll keep the Seer as I already own one, and will look if somebody has one for trading in my lgs to increase the number.
Gonti is a creature I really like, even though I’m not a black neither control player and is the main reason why I thought of the deck. As I have seen when other play them it’s a hit or miss and being legendary hence the reason behind cutting some of them down to 2.
The mummy is a hard choice, one the one hand it’s another discard spell that helps casting the Mindbender, on the other hand discarding doesn’t help me in any case(except for casting Return, which I don’t think it’ll be that relevant most times) unless I had the Scrapheap but I get your point as it wouldn’t be very relevant as a creature. I also don’t see the late game value of the mummy as losing a card in late is quite bad.
I like the Gifted Aetherborn because it dodges Shock and Magma Spray and is good in defense and keeps my life stable against aggro. But they doesn’t help with the game plan so I took it out.
The Lupine Prototype is... another hard choice I considered: it dies to Fatal Push so is less reliable as a finisher, I don’t know if I’ll be able to get my opponent hellbent and if I did I think I’d prefer an Asylum Visitor (which also works with the mummy) as a hellbent opponent means my discard spells are irrelevant and the lack of evasion of the wolf with dead draws could mean the game. I prefer it in a madness deck, personally.
I love the idea of running Lost legacy in the main board, at least some copies. By turn 3 I should have already enough information to take some important piece of their deck or at least take a look at it and plan the sideboard. I know this could be useless against some fast decks but never the less.
Speaking of the sideboard, I just don’t really know how to do it as I don’t normally use it (I barely have played outside of the kitchen table) but lets see:
I see the cat no being good enough, the Scarab Feast is better and the deck needs to hate graveyard decks.
The Flaying Tendrils just seems good against aggro(the Gifted Aetherborn survived it, other reason I used them over Yahenni’s Expertise which kills them and Gonti, but if the meta ask for it the tendrils will be switched)
Disposses is an obvious inclusion against Dynabolt or vehicles or anything with metal.
The rest should be the rest of the playsets of the discard spells in the main board.
The meta is still evolving so the match ups are not worth mentioning yet. But I think the switches are quite intuitive.
The gameplan idea is quite easy:
- know their hand, strategy and intentions.
2.stop it
3.??
4.win
As this is a deck where the choices really matter, taking/naming the wrong card could mean an unanswered threat and losing, I’ll need a lot of experience.
The testing will start soon.
