A fun casual deck I'm testing. It relies on the
Izzet Guildmage
's ability to copy spells to try to pull the well-known infinite combo with Lava Spike + Desperate ritual with (or without) the help of Training Grounds. It also packs some Spellheart Chimeras to do some damage if you can't pull the combo.
It has some cards with Scry, and some other things to try to get an efficient combo.
I also added 4 control cards, but I'm not really sure on keeping them.
Some
Izzet Guildmage
combos:
Banefire
+
Desperate Ritual
DR is an instant, so you have to spend blue mana for each copy. If you have Training Grounds up, you can cast it once, and then convert each blue mana to 3 red, and cast a really big banefire. Manamorphose would make this a lot easier, I'm planing to add it later, but I still don't have this card
Desperate Ritual
+
Lava Spike
spliced combo:This one is easier, and you just need 5 mana to execute it. First you cast Lava Spike and show Desperate Ritual from your hand. Now Lava Spike reads: "Lava spike deals 3 damage to target player. Add RRR to your mana pool".Then, before it resolves, you cast the Desperate Ritual from your hand. Wait for it to resolve, and with the RRR it generated, you copy the first Lava Spike with DR spliced, still on the stack. Wait for it to resolve... it'll deal 3 damage and generate another RRR while the first Lava Spike is still on the stack. Repeat until you're tired, or your opponent gets bored. You'll just need 4 mana if you already have Training Grounds up.
