I'm adapting this deck: https://aetherhub.com/Deck/bluered-phoenix-99-mythic-cgb-bo1 for the historic format. You can check out a video of the original deck being played here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPxN3iwTmfs. The deck isn't quite finished yet: I want to get rid of the Thriving Bluffs and the Guildgate, replacing them with another copy of each Steam Vents and Sulfur falls, as well as two copies of Temple of Epiphany. Also, I don't have the four copies of Finale of Promise. I think they would come in insted of two of the Lofty Denial, since they don't synergize well together, but I'm starting to think that Finale isn't as good against the good historic decks as it was against the good Standard decks of the time.
I added the denials because at this time, many of the top historic decks rely on resolving one crucial spell to win (Transmogrify, Lukka, Thassa's Oracle, Muxus, Craterhoof, etc.), and countering it often gets you enough tempo to cheat out a win next turn with your birds. Flame Sweep is there because the Goblin deck and the Lukka deck both rely on small creatures to do their combos. I think Enigma Drake is better than Stormwing Entity, so that's why I exchanged them.
That's it! The deck is tricky to use (as CGB says in his video), but I think it has potential in Historic in capable hands (i.e., not mine) and with some practice. The margin to win is often razor-thin, but it's still loads of fun. With the mana as it is right now, the deck becomes even trickier, but that's just because I don't have all the copies of the shocklands and the checklands. If you have them, and you want to use this deck, add them immediately. Also Teferi, Time Raveler and Narset, Parter of Veils absolutely destroy this deck, so be warned.
