STOP UPVOTING THIS DECK YOU SHITS

This decklist and description is outdated, retired and bad and will probably stay that way. For an updated list check Competitive tier 1 Aetherflux Reservoir combo and Jeleva Slim

I'm not going to delete this decklist because of the amount of views this has, I (and probably other people) have linked this decklist over the internet.

Budget-ish version of the infamous Grixis Storm.

If you're interested on how this deck works, just read Moxnix's primer. Even though it's written like Ulysses it has all the information you need. A TL;DR version would be "resolve Ad Nauseam during end step, draw cards until at 6 life or less, untap and play spells until you win". Other ways of going off include Notion Thief + any of our wheel effects (Windfall, Wheel of Fortune, Time Spiral), Doomsday and if the game goes long enough just having enough shit in your hand and graveyard is sometimes enough to hit critical mass.

Questions and suggestions are always welcome.

Note: the following text is currently obsolete

One thing you won't find in the original primer is how to play Doomsday in this build. Because of budget reasons I don't have a Lion's Eye Diamond, so LED piles obviously aren't a thing. Instead I'm running Predict and Unearth.

The pile I use more than 90% of the time is some variation of this:

You can instead have Gush in hand in which case the pile order is a little different but works the same way. With one extra you can replace Lotus Petal with Pact of Negation.

If our cantrip is a Ponder or some other draw 1, the pile I use is:

Needs and , and also the draw 1 effect and mana for it.

In case you didn't figure it out yourself, in this pile I name Bamboozle for Predict so I don't deck myself.

Second line with a draw one (needs two useless cards in hand):

Needs and , and also the draw 1 effect and mana for it. If you have a ton of lands you can change the order of Frantic Search and Gush so you can discard the islands.

Other piles are pretty much variations of these or are so trivial (cantrip into card draw into card draw into hardcast Lab Man into cantrip) that they aren't worth mentioning. One neat trick worth mentioning for those who are inexperienced with Doomsday that Brainstorm reads "draw 3 cards", so even if you do have 2 cards left in your pile if LabMan is on the battlefield Brainstorm wins the game.

Updates Add

I now have a Lion's Eye Diamond in here, meaning Predict and Unearth got cut. Rest in pieces, I won't miss you except the questions on why I'm running Unearth. Goblin Electromancer got added too.

About the future of this decklist: Because of LED this decklist isn't that budget anymore, and since there already was a FoW, Mana Crypt and a Thoughtseize I have thought about building a real budget list for all the other storm pilots with similiar budget problems. I also did proxy all the missing cards so depending on what my playgroup says about me running a piece of paper that reads "Imperial Seal" and how much I feel like brewing this decklist might either retire or become a real budget decklist-and-a-primer-thingy.
