Hey everyone, this is a deck that is pretty heavily based on a variant posted on MTG Goldfish. I kept losing at FNM to Mono-Red with my U/B Burn-Control, so I decided to add in white for board clears and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. I made a few changes to the original MTGG deck and came up with this. I was looking for some feedback on it, as I don't particularly care for the Crackling Drakes and I'm looking for another suggested finisher. Comments and questions are appreciated.
EDIT 1: With consideration of the current meta, along with some insight from recent competitive events, I made some changes to the deck. Going for versatility over consistency, there have been a few 1x additions. It hurts to make space when the deck is already so limited in size, but with these changes I've seen much better improvements in terms of general game flow. Current model is still in testing phase, with some personal spice in the sideboard. Will update and change as necessary in the following weeks.
EDIT 2: After playtesting for a few more weeks, the deck is performing much better. The deck has been consistently winning against mono-red, which was my goal when creating it in the first place. Matchups have been favorable (2-0) against: Mono-red Aggro, Boros Angels, Elf-ball, Mono-black zombies, White weenies, among other fringe non-meta decks. I've had tougher matchups (either 2-1 or 1-2) against: Selesnya valuetown, R/G Dinosaurs, Mono-green stompy, and Golgari Midrange. The only really tough matchup I've had with this deck (0-2) has been against Izzet control. Pre-sideboard, the match is very difficult, as some cards have limited usefulness in this matchup. After sideboard, the game is much easier. I think that with a bit more experience with this deck, this matchup could easily turn into a 1-2 or even a 2-1. The sideboard, and a bit of the mainboard as well, have been altered to adjust for these types of matches. I will continue to tune the deck in the coming weeks based on its performance.
