Just a quick little brew I've thrown together to play Standard at FNM and kitchen table with friends. The general game-plan is to either overwhelm the board early with a bunch of weenies, or stall out until you can hit the board with the heavier hitting flyers.
Looking to clean up the deck a little bit, since I think it may reach a little wide (its focus lacks FOCUS). But still, I've been having a blast piloting it.
Card Explanations:
KEY CARD:
Impact Tremors - Really important to get one of these out early to set up all of the chip damage you want to do, due to the deck's token generation.
BURN/REACH/REMOVAL:
Collateral Damage - You'll almost always have a spare token laying around to finish off creatures/face.
Wild Slash - Burn/early removal. Great card. Always happy to see one of these in my hand.
Cunning Strike - A decent little trick. Best use in mid-game when you need the card draw. Damage to face gets you that much closer to burn range.
Roil Spout - I almost always end up casting this for it's Awaken cost. The bounce and Awoken land is a huge tempo swing, and has closed out a few games for me.
SUMMONING SPELLS:
Dragon Fodder - Our early game workhorse. Either with or without Impact Tremors, Dragon Fodder lets us start going wide early.
Ojutai's Summons - Summons ends games. Especially with a Thunderclap Wyvern on the board. Four 2/2 flyers (or 3/3!!) is a smokin' hot deal. Skyspawner helps get you here one turn faster.
Murder Investigation - This card helps maintains your board presence, while dealing Impact Tremors damage. Drop this on your Reknowned Freeblade to put on a lot of pressure in the early game. Or save it for after your Thunderclap Wyvern hit the board. Or with your awoken lands. (Or with your Hangarback Walkers, when I decide that I want to upgrade this deck!)
Foundry of the Consuls - Mana sink for those longer games. Almost functions like Ojutai's Summons with a Thunderclap on the board. Almost.
CREATURE SPELLS:
Topan Freeblade - Love this as an early option if your Impact Tremors have gone missing. Good early pressure, without giving up defense.
Eldrazi Skyspawner - Another early pressure that triggers Tremors twice. Scion also enables a turn 4 Ojutai's Summons. (Not significant odds that this happens, but still...)
Ghirapur Gearcrafter/Thopter Engineer/Whirler Rogue - Our Thopter production suite, giving us haste flyers that all trigger Tremors multiple times.
Thunderclap Wyvern - I love this card. The +1/+1 to flyers pumps most of the threats in the deck, and can be cast as an instant (thanks Flash!). That means that this functions as a combat trick!
