Omniscience + Season's Past Loop

The idea of this deck is to cheat Omniscience into play and then win using a Seasons Past loop. There are multiple ways to cheat Omniscience into play, and when those run out, Jodah, Archmage Eternal can help you get it into play at a discount. If all else fails, you still have Labman lines of play.

Most of the common win-cons in cEDH can become boring or stale. Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God is in this list to add in a little bit of flavor without much sacrifice. Most of the planeswalker interactions exist in this deck to use Tamiyo as a backup Omniscience path, so nothing new is added for him. Nicol Bolas can be a win con of a Seasons Past loop or he can be cheated into play very early, or after a board wipe from Cyclonic Rift , and end the game if your opponents do not control a legendary creature or planeswalker. Using a pod effect, such as Neoform , on Arena Rector will cheat Nicol Bolas into play and the pod effect will put Deepglow Skate into play, doubling up Nicol Bolas's loyalty counters, allowing use of his -8 ability.

Since this deck is already running Flash and is in Green, a simple Protean Hulk package is included to allow for a quick assembly of permanents you need. Unforunately, at this time, I do not have an instant-speed win condition established yet as this deck is purely in the theory-craft stage.

This deck has many ways to cheat in Omniscience consisting of the old school method of Academy Rector + Flash , to using Birthing Pod effects to create combination of creatures and triggered abilities that give us what we need, to using our commander to cast it for an alternate casting cost.

With a protected, or even unprotected, Seasons Past loop, you can literally custom build a win con using pretty much anything in the deck. You may surprise yourself with what you can come up with as long as you can maintain the loop. All you need is two different "to hand" tutors of different CMC to create Loop 1, which is used to obtain the combo pieces. With Loop 2, you just need one tutor with a CMC that does not conflict with the CMC of the cards in your SP Loop to seal the deal. Below is an example of how you can execute the loop.

Season's Past Loop 1: (Assembling Pieces)

Omniscience or Emblem in play

  1. Cast Demonic Tutor (DT1) > find Diabolic Tutor (DT2)
  2. Cast DT2 > find Seasons Past (SP)
  3. Cast SP > return DT1, DT2, and any other qualifying cards
  4. Cast DT1 > find New Card

Repeat 2-4 until all combo pieces are acquired and then proceed to a finisher loop.

SP Loop 2: (Finisher #1)

This style of finisher is what would be considered a non-dead card finisher, which has become the norm in cEDH. Everything in this finisher is already a card you would be using for something else, be it a tutor or interaction. The other finishers are just other options you have in case you can SP Loop but are missing those pieces of interaction for whatever reason (exiled).

Acquire Lotus Petal , Swan Song , and Finale of Devastation from SP Loop 1

  1. Cast Lotus Petal, use for G
  2. Cast DT1 and hold priority
  3. Cast Swan Song, countering DT1 and creating a Swan Token
  4. Cast DT2, getting SP
  5. Cast SP, returning Lotus Petal (0), Swan Song (1), DT1 (2), DT2 (4) to your hand

Repeat 1-5 until desired number of Swans created, then cast Finale of Devastation with an X greater than 10 to boost Swans and give them haste.

Note: You can use Beast Within (instead of Swan Song) to destroy Lotus Petal instead. If you wanna be really minimalist, you can loop Assassin's Trophy over and over again until you've destroyed all opponent permanents in play, then create a ton of token creatures, and then kill all opponents on your next combat.

SP Loop 3: (Finisher #2)

Alternate finisher using Nicol Bolas.

Acquire Beast Within , and Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God from SP Loop 1.

  1. Cast Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God
  2. Use +1 loyalty ability to force opponents to exile a card in hand or a permanent
  3. Cast Beast Within, destroying Nicol Bolas and creating a Beast Token
  4. Cast DT1, finding SP
  5. Cast SP, returning DT1 (2), Beast Within (3), and Nicol Bolas (5) to your hand

Repeat 1-5 until all of your opponents have exiled their hands and permanents in play, and enough Beast Tokens have been created to kill your opponents on your next combat.

Note: You can use Chain of Vapor (instead of Beast Within) to bounce Nicol Bolas. With this option, use Nicol Bolas's +1 to keep exiling the only card your opponents draw each turn (either from their hand or in play if it was a land). Then, when Nicol Bolas has enough loyalty counters to use his -8 ability, activate it to force all of your opponents to lose the game.

SP Loop 4: (Finisher #3)

This finisher is not so much a loop but just another win option you can dig up with SP Loop 1. Basically a traditional Labman win con, not terribly exciting.

Acquire Demonic Consultation , and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries from SP Loop 1

  1. Cast Demonic Consultation, exiling your library
  2. Cast Jace
  3. Use Jace's +1 loyalty ability to draw a card and win game

Note: You can use Laboratory Maniac and a cantrip instead.
