Jodah's Doorway Out

Commander / EDH

revmo

This deck was inspired by a conversation I had with a fellow commander player in Lexington, KY. I feel bad that I can't remember his name, but maybe he'll see this and recognize the concept. The conversation was about killing people with overly complicated combos and he wanted to build something that forced a player into killing themselves with Door to Nothingness. I had already built a silly deck with a buddy of mine that exiled every card in the game state under Cold Storage based off a Academy Rector + Flash build. Did a bit of brainstorming, removed the old combo and added in 6 new cards to pull this off.

The combo plays out like so: Academy Rector + Flash and search for Omniscience. Tutor and cast Enter the Infinite.

Now that your library is in your hand, you go to town! Play in order: Grand Abolisher: Protect yourself and to keep them from doing anything on your turn. Grim Monolith + Power Artifact : Need infinite mana. Mycosynth Lattice: Allows us to use mana however we would like, also makes everything into artifacts. Doubling Season: Makes extra tokens and loyalty counters. Mirrorworks: Allows us to double up on artifacts Panharmonicon: Allows us to get double ETB triggers from all permanents now that they enter as artifacts.

We are now protected and setup. Use your infinite mana to overload Cyclonic Rift. Time to begin our next round of shenanigans. Cast Door to Nothingness. Pay for one of the Mirrorworks ETBs. This will create 2 additional copies due to Doubling Season. Cast Symbiotic Deployment. Because of the Lattice, it will enter as an artifact, allowing Mirrorworks to trigger. Pay for both ETB triggers to net 4 additional copies. Cast Leyline of Sanctity. For the same reason as above, pay for both ETB triggers, netting 4 additional copies. Cast Deadeye Plunderers and then pay for 15 treasure tokens (doubling season will make it 30). Cast Zedruu. Cast Mindslaver and pay for both ETB triggers. Cast Jace, the Living Guildpact.

We're almost done with our whacky shenanigans here. Time to move forward into the final phase!

Since Jace entered with double loyalty counters, he can ultimate. His ultimate is a one-sided Timetwister. Everyone shuffles their hands and graveyards into their libraries, but only you get to draw the 7 cards. This is important as we don't want them to do anything relevant on their turn and not have access to any graveyard tricks, and with all their nonland permanents in their hands, the only things they will have in play are lands and what we give them!

Now, use Zedruu and the infinite colorless mana we can spend however we choose to donate 1 Door to Nothingness, 1 Symbiotic Deployment, 10 Treasure tokens, and 1 Leyline of Sanctity. It is important that you donate the leyline last as you won't be able to donate them anything else after that. Use Deadeye Navigator + Venser, Shaper Savant to return Zedruu to your hand. End your turn and watch the fun happen.

Your opponents now have no cards in hand, no draw step, 10 mana, an untapped Door on their turn, and the only person they can target is themselves. The only way out is through the door.

If your opponents hessitate to step through the door, you can always push them through it by bouncing their copies of door with venser, bouncing their copies of leyline, making new copies of both by bouncing and recasting the originals, recast zedruu, and then use a copy of mindslaver on each opponent, then re-donating the doors and leylines back to each opponent. Sometimes people just need a helpful nudge through the door.
