two different combos are possible here, both kill your opponent in an infinite loop but one is all creatures and the other requires an enchantment with creatures and this deck is not very good at getting access to its non-creatures.
Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Putrid Goblin
with either Viscera Seer or Skirk Prospector, just a free way to repeatedly sacrifice your putrid goblin while having a melira on the battlefield.
Viscera seer is nice that he allows you to scry for the combos as well as be a part of them himself
This deck, like other combo decks, is VERY susceptible to counters and kill-spells especially considering that it is a three or four card combo unlike combos like Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Spike Feeder
who require only two cards for an infinite loop, but we have ways to crap out the combo quickly with Aether Vial and Collected Company. Birds of Paradise and Ignoble Hierarch let us ramp into crapping the combo out from our hands.
Finding the correct combo pieces can also be difficult so we bring cards like Imperial Recruiter and Eldritch Evolution to help seal the deal and guarantee that we get what we need.
I still have to mess around with card quantity and specific card selection (like, "is Veil of Summer worth it with cards like Solitude being so abundant and readily getting around a veil?")
This deck grew out of my deck:Turbo Creatures Midrange decklist that just seemed to be missing a little something extra to close out games.
This deck needs a better way to assemble the combo since not all parts are creatures so:
- Are cards in the deck like Collected Company worth it since we have such a dependence on the combo rather than just a go wide midrange strategy?
- Are there any cards that would allow us to more consistently hit all the pieces of the combo not just the creature part (such as a card like Storm the Festival)?
- What about Pashalik Mons + Skirk Prospector
? it is aqcuirable off of imperial recruiter, collected company and eldritch evolution so it seems more valid than Sling-Gang Lieutenant who can only be acquired off of eldritch evolution and imperial recruiter.
- Take Inspiration from the yawgmoth combo deck, just use their shell and slot this combo in and see how it goes.
- just following the Yawgmoth, Thran Physician combo deck for counts of combo pieces, this is what I come up with!
- We do make some critical changes as follows:
- 3x Aether Vial for 3x Birds of Paradise since our main combo consists of only 2 CMC creature cards, aether vial on two helps us reliably hit our combo on turn three or four if we have it acting as a pseudo form of ramp
- 4x Melira, Sylvok Outcast for 4x Yawgmoth, Thran Physician as she is a unique effect for our combo just as yawgmoth is for his
- 4x Kitchen Finks and 4x Putrid Goblin for the 4x Young Wolf and 4x Strangleroot Geist as his combo requires undying creatures, ours requires persist creatures and Kitchen Finks goes infinite with Viscera Seer for inifite life
- 3x Skirk Prospector for 3x Wall of Roots as he can be a small burst of mana or gain us inifite mana off the main Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Putrid Goblin
combo
- 4x Imperial Recruiter for 4x Chord of Calling as it performs relatively the same function of tutoring creatures but it can easily grab our over costed sac-outlet, Sling-Gang Lieutenant. While it is only a tutor effect and not an etb, I still think it will do well though I am considering just using Chord of Calling due to the convoke ability of the card going so well with having many creature on the battlefield
- 3x Collected Company for 1x Eldritch Evolution, 1x Endurance and 1x land as again the whole combo can be assembled with less than 3 CMC creatures
- Lastly, we have 2x Viscera Seer and 2x Sling-Gang Lieutenant for 1x geralf's messanger, 1x Prosperous Innkeeper, 1x Blood Artist and 1x Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons as these would be essential for the three card yawgmoth combo and they are essential for our three card combo
