Overview
This is a new modern deck I made up while usings some of the cheapest options available. I've been trying to make a budget Jund deck for sometime now with being under $100. So, I bring to you today the deck that has taken me over a week to edit, create, and present to you here. Looking at what other people use in Jund, watching tournaments, and playing it myself I've developed a good working Jund deck for a budget price. I added up the cost of the deck to about $70 according to Channel Fireball. Thank you for checking out the deck and enjoy.
Cards I didn't use and why
Tarmogoyf -Not saying this is a bad card but it was to pricey for this list
Dark Confidant
-I don't like this card and it's expensive and thats two reasons not to buy it. I'm not a fan of it because when you face aggro decks this card really seems like it hurts you more than helps you. Even when your not facing aggro it's still just not worth it. I'm fine with using
Domri Rade
and Courser of Kruphix.
Scavenging Ooze-Now this is a good card and it wasn't too pricey for the list either. I've been playing with this version of Jund monsters for some time now and I just really have been seeing this card more as a disappointment. In my opinion it really slows the game down but you can still run it but I only recommend running 1-2 of them.
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
/ Sarkhan Vol -I really like these two planeswalkers and I think they are good but I'd rather have a
Stormbreath Dragon
than
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
. Now comes to Sarkhan Vol. I really like how he plays and how he incorporates into the deck but I found better luck with
Xenagos, the Reveler
Vraska the Unseen -I truly love this card, I just don't think it goes with the deck that well so I had to remove it.
Chandra, Pyromaster
-This card honestly doesn't give enough punch for the four mana you spend for it.
Abrupt Decay -This card is too expensive for the deck so sadly I had to remove it :(
Things to know about this deck
This deck does fall a bit short when facing burn decks. You can still win but burn is a deck that is just too fast and it's really hard to keep up. This deck I'd say wins 40%-50% of the time when facing it.
Aggro decks can be difficult to face with Jund monsters but if you can live out the first 4 turns then you can usually come back and win the game, just play smart.
It's very beneficial to have Courser of Kruphix and
Domri Rade
on the field at the same time. Usually when their out the game is yours.
Pump out those big creatures as fast as you can. You can usually get out a 4 drop turn 3 and a five drop turn 4.
Have Fun.
Conclusion
I would love to hear what you have to say about the deck and if you made your own version of the deck. Updates on how the deck does in a tournament is coming soon. Leave comments below for suggestions if you have any ,duel on!
