Jund NO-Jack NicFit, until i come up with something hotter.
This deck is inspired on the Naya colored 'Apple Jacks' list that tries to push a quick Titania, Protector of Argoth using Orcish Lumberjack and Natural Order and is backed by cards like: Knight of the Reliquary, Mox Diamond, Life from the Loam and Punishing Fire. The biggest drawback of Apple Jacks is that it can fall behind quickly and often have these 'do nothing' moments.
So i was pondering about it the other day and mashup the 'NO-Jacks' plan into one of my favorite archetypes: NicFit and specifically in JUND colors. Which helped since Orcish Lumberjack is red. Another thing about NicFit is the high amount of Forests played by NicFit also helps in activating Orcish Lumberjack. Having the combination of Veteran Explorer and Orcish Lumberjack seemed outright obnoxious. Playing black instead of white gave some additional benefit's. Cabal Therapy, Assassin's Trophy, Toxic Deluge, Pernicious Deed, Meren of Clan Nel Toth, The Gitrog Monster (which was not in the original list), Volrath's Stronghold and Phyrexian Tower.
Given that this deck orientates around lands interactions (not as typical as with ie, RG Lands), i wanted to include creatures that provided synergy in that regard. Ramunap Excavator, Tireless Tracker, Titania, Protector of Argoth, Primeval Titan and Courser of Kruphix. Courser of Kruphix was added later and replaced Living Twister. I felt that while Twister was decend, Courser fills similar role but strictly better for the deck.
Then we Dragonlord Atarka, which is backbreaking against most fair deck. Dragonlord Atarka can easily be hardcasted or Green Sun's Zenith for in midgame. Turn 3 is not even unrealistic with this list.
But the big and obvious problem now is that this is as fair as f... and folds to combo. The original Apple Jacks list also runs (a newer inclusion) Archon of Valor's Reach. At first i played 3 of them in the board along with a Savannah and a Plains. And i played Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. At a later stage i felt that i wanted something to do against combo in Game 1 and included both Scavenging Ooze, 1 Archon of Valor's Reach, a Savannah and switched a Bloodstained Mire for a Windswept Heath. Also a single Birds of Paradise might be helpful in that regard, while also be a body to sac for Natural Order or Cabal Therapy if needed.
So imho the removal is better, there was more to do between turns and there is a crazy amount of synergy between all (or at least most) of the cards.
Typical ramp plays (to be refined):
T1 Explorer / Therapy, T2 flash Therapy + landdrop = 3 mana, T3 4+
T1 GSZ 0 for Arbor, T2 Explorer + PTower = 6 mana
T1 Lumberjack, T2 Fetch => Arbor = 4 mana + sac outlet for Natural Order
I am the original creator of this list, although inspired of existing lists. The deck is still in testing phase, but looks promising to say the least.
If you want to play something different, you should give it a spin.
Why should you play this? It crushes fair decks and does a good job against combo due to a quick Archon, esp postboard.
