I have been in love with Dungrove Elder since I started playing magic. my deck has had several rebuildings ranging from a milera infinate combo deck too Grull ramp deck. This is my newest attempt to make dungrove really work in modern.

creatures:

4x Dark Confidant: the draw engine that makes this deck work. this card cannot be replaced. I keep every card under 4 cmc because of confidant.

2x Dryad Arbor: a 1/1 that can be found with a fetch land. if late game I top deck a fetch land I can now at least turn it into a chump block. Also since it is a creature Scavenging Ooze gets a counter for exiling it.

4x Dungrove Elder: this card is fantastic. It is hard to overstate how powerful the keyword hexproof is. Dungrove will almost always come down as a 3/3 for 3 and will only get stronger. Getting him past 5/5 happens almost every game.

4x Deathrite Shaman: A stable of jund. This card prevents combos, gains life and deals damage. plus it can even block a 1/1 and win.

4x Kitchen Finks: printed to beat the zoo deck even off of a Dark Confidant I will still net life.

3x Scavenging Ooze: I am really experimenting with this guy. I have found that 3 is the perfect number. You really do not want 2 of these guys on the field as the second is just a useless bear.

control:

4x Lightning Bolt: ummm ya what do I say about Lightning Bolt other than (/-)/ I love this card. In the early game it knocks out mana dorks. In the late game it deals damage to a player. We all have won (and lost) games off of a top decked Lightning Bolt.

3x Abrupt Decay: still in my opinion the greatest kill spell ever printed. an uncountable card that removes anything. It kills Lilliana of the Veil, it kills tarmogyf, it kills Dark Confidant it kill Vedalken Shackles and it even kills Oblivion Ring. Now that is a resume.

2x Tragic Slip: my everything else removal. Every card in modern dies to this except Emerakul and by that point I have already lost. Tragic Slip just allows me cheap removal. Early game I kill mana dorks, late game I can kill angels.

Other spells:

2x Profane Command: ok losing Bloodbraid Elf is huge. but it is not the end. Plus there are a few up sides from not running her. One major one is that we can now run X cost spells.

4x Grisly Salvage: I loved this card from the moment I first saw it. It puts things in your grave yard. It puts things in your hand. it is really inexpensive. I only really play 7 big threats (4 Dungrove Elder and 3 Scavenging Ooze) because of this there will be games that I just don't draw one. This plus the Dark Confidant help to make sute that does not happen.
