Alright! Journey Into Nyx is upon us, and I have to throw together some Junk nonsense list as per the norm to sate my obsession with the color set. Eidolon of Blossoms is sweet, no doubt about it, but we need a way to get some value off of it. So we have a whopping 26 permanents that trigger our green card-drawing friend.
This is Grindygame.dec, no doubt. Thoughtseize helps us slow the game down, making sure we get max value off of our Eidolon. Underworld Coinsmith can grant us 4 to 10 life over the course of the game, and can sometimes incidentally kill our opponent just by paying mana.
Brain Maggot serves the role of a wimpy Tidehollow Sculler, while Courser of Kruphix and Boon Satyr allow us to do some tricky things, smoothing out draws and even letting us draw a card at instant speed with our friendly neighborhood Eidolon out.
I'm very intrigued by our gods. Athreos, God of Passage in combination with Pharika, God of Affliction should do some neat things for us, like never letting our opponent have any fun ever. Creature dies? Comes back unless you eat it. You ate it? We're going to exile it and draw a card anyway, because the snakes made by Pharika are enchantments. I'm not sure about the power level of these two; the numbers may go up if they prove to be better than cute.
Fate Unraveler is a card I'm super excited to play with. It not only draws us a card off of our Eidolon of Blossoms, but it also deals them damage every time they draw. It doubles the life loss from Underworld Connections, totally bricks Sphinx's Revelation's life gain, and essentially functions as a 4-power creature if they have an empty board. The 3/4 body is far from irrelevant in any kind of aggro mirror, and alongside our removal suite, should be very strong.
Detention Sphere? Get that chump outta here. We get Banishing Light, a much prettier and elegant removal spell that, like every other card in our deck, cantrips with Eidolon of Blossoms.
Erebos, God of the Dead may not belong in the main, but the card advantage is possibly worth it.
Feedback appreciated! I'll be checking back a couple times a day, so if you leave comments, they'll be responded to in a very timely fashion.
