Made this deck during the kaladesh prerelease this saturday. Going in hoping to build an izzet or rakdos deck, I was a bit disappointed with getting a lot of my least favorite color combination: Simic. However, after playing this I found it quite fun to play. Plus, everyone at the release was pretty chill and had a good laugh about how some of the games played out.

Now here is what I remember about my games.

Match 1

0-2 vs Abzan: Was a bit disappointed with this game when I found out that my opponent was playing a tricolored deck with 1 rare. 1st game went bad when he played a Sky Skiff and then a Chief of the Foundry . Even with Rashmi out, I got flooded with lands and nothing to block his continuous 3 in the air. 2nd game went even worse when he played his 1 rare: Panharmonicon. With this came his Visionary Augmenter , and his topdecked Arborback Stomper & Aviary Mechanic. You can assume that got out of hand.

Match 2

2-1 vs Rakdos (Control?): Opponent got some good cards like Diabolic Tutor and Harnessed Lightning, which killed my Rashmi in 2 of our games, but he played out his hand to fast with low drop creature, and in the end got trampled over (lost 1 because I screwed up and didn't leave enough blockers).

Match 3

1-2 vs Bant: At this point considered splashing white, but it really didn't work out well as it put too much of mycurve to high and grouped up at 4 mana. That, plus the opponent having the same mythic (but actually pulling her out the last 2 games) but even better curve lost me the last 2 games. Only won first due to his land drought game 1.

Match 4

2-0 vs Gruul 1/1 Counters: Reverted my deck, but added Sky Skiff and Tezzeret's Ambition after previous game. Opponent had a good opening first game with a Longtusk Cub , Fairgrounds Trumpeter, and Bristling Hydra. However, he made a mistake using up the charge counters for the Hydra on his turn, allowing me to attack with my creature, have him attempt trade with Cub, then Blossoming Defense mine to survive and Hunt the Weak it against the hydra (still with the blossoming buff). Then trampled him. Game 2, got out Rashmi and Architect of the Untamed , allowing me to flood field with creatures and get a 6/6 golem.

Match 5

2-0 vs Izzet artifacts: Trampled over with big creatures while opponent was unable to get out many threats and removal. Game 2, baited out his removal before playing Rashmi and overwhelmed with a flooded board.

Match 6

2-0 vs Gruul Aggro: Close match, raced against each other. First game opponent got out 2 Brazen Scourge , a manadork, and a Thriving Rhino but due to their misplay (swinging in with their manadork when i was at 7), I was able to survive with 2 lp, and kill them with a Larger Than Life on Renegade Freighter . Game 2 was an iffy hand, with 1 Sky Skiff Renegade Freighter Cultivator's Caravan and 4 lands, but kept in hopes of drawing into something to crew. Turn 4, i did and it was a Peema Outrider , allowing me to crew both the cultivator and skiff for 7 damage. Outraced him again at that point.

Conclusion: 8th place and 1 pack lol although not to good, was fun to play and chat with the other players. Also came to enjoy playing Simic and might actually expand on the deck.

Best moment of the prerelease: a little kid that joined the prerelease with parent pulled a masterpiece Sol Ring from his box, only masterpiece to be pulled. So many people were jealous/surprised/wanted to rip of kid. Other thing was, 1 of the shop owners told my friend who took me to the event that he was almost handed the kids box/their boxes were sidebyside when distributing (and his box came with a pack missing a rare).
