So, this is my most stable Commander deck. It actually started out as a Zurgo Helmsmasher EDH with several hasty creatures and the Master of Cruelties in there. But as I was choosing cards, it ended up evolving to a deck with mostly Angels and Dragons on it, so changing the general to Kaalia of the Vast was a natural decision.

I've been updating this deck since around 2014, and it is more or less working alright now, at least within my circle friends. The challenge up to this point was to make it versatile enough to function against one opponent, or against 2 to 4 enemies on the kitchen table, but I was wondering what the next step is in order to make it somewhat competitive.

Up until now, I know exactly what I was going agains. For exemple, there's this friend on the table that plays with Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, so I have my Rain of Gore to help me deal with it. Just as well, I've put a Rakdos Charm to use against the Krenko, Mob Boss deck from this other dude. We have another suicidal mono-red player who uses a Heartless Hidetsugu to make the game short, but then I can play the Gisela, Blade of Goldnight to halt him. And of course, there's the Iona, Shield of Emeria to work with all those mono-coloured decks.

Thing is, I know what I am playing against, but I want to fix this deck to perform well with whatever I may encounter ahead.

I've got the whole thing kind of layed out as follows:

The Land Base: I tried the strongest I could, but I realize there's some way to go. I manage to grab Badlands and Plateau, and I am running several drawbacked duals, as well as the beloved Cavern of Souls and other lands I judged useful. I have cheap multicolor mana generators, and questioning how essential they really are to this deck.

The Protection: These are the equipment and whatever else might come handy to protect the general, because she IS always the target once she lands on the battlefield. This includes the Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Darksteel Plate. Also I've put card:Leyline of Sancticity and Witchbane Orb to avoid being forced to sacrifice her.

"Bring'er Back Package": with the Animate Dead, Ghoulcaller's Chant, Necromantic Summons, card:Heya Dawnbringer and even Mortuary Mire. I realize some of those are less than optimal, but it is what I had laying arround. Also part of the "Bring'er Back Package" is Opal Palace: since Kaalia of the Vast is relatively cheap to cast, specially later on, why not have her enter stronger?

Tutors: I could really use an Imperial Seal, but at this point I cannot afford one. Other than that, what else could I have besides the classics? Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, Diabolic Tutor... Even deck:Diabolic Revelation and Taj-Nar Swordsmith are there, just in case.

Spot Removal and Global Removal: These are getting slimmer on this deck, but I guess I could revisit this whole section. I believe I have some of the classics, and I had Damnation there as well, but it seemed like it was never really being used, so I let it go (in favor of Wrath of God, since I've got more white mana) to free up space for other stuff. Wouldn't take out card:Sword to Plowshares nor Path to Exile for anything, but Hero's Downfall? Utter End? Vindicate? Are these replaceable? Or should I just stick more of these in there?

Disruptors: Well, I'm not really into these control stuff, but Inquisition of Kozilek and Duress have been proven to help. What else?

I guess that's about it. Like I've mentioned, the deck runs well against my friends, but I wish to make it work well as a stand alone deck, against new players, without knowing what to expect!

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
