Karador, Ghost Chiefer Sutherland

Commander / EDH

Itseggrolltime

After building and deconstructing this deck twice before I ventured off to play many another deck of many a different color. But I keep coming back to this beautiful Abzan reanimator. This is my third build and my best effort in my opinion to do what I want it to do. It is very consistent and a lot more focused than my past builds which oozed with my love for "good stuff" cards.

This deck is built to play in a casual but competitive format. My playgroup does not allow for infinite so this creation is just designed to get nice and grindy.

I have six win conditions and a lot of removal.

Reasonable win conditions: Emrakul, the Promised End Craterhoof Behemoth Massacre Wurm Gray Merchant of Ashphodel Westvale Abbey Profane Command

Emrakul just does what she does and being able to cast her, wreck someones board, sac her, and then recast next turn with Karador's ability is the grossest extent you could levy her. Due to Emrakul being cheapened by card types in graveyards and being we are a deck that puts things in graveyards she can come out quick and often. Casting Emrakul, choosing a target, sacrificing and then recasting with Karador's ability in one turn in always possible and always devastating. But realistically any play depends on the board state so apply with caution.

Craterhoof Behemoth is often a card that will remove 1 to all players in one swing. Craterhoof is paired well in this deck with Avenger of Zendikar, Elesh Norn, and even Ishkanah's tokens. Working towards this ending will have you looking for the cards mentioned or just having a good amount of power on the battlefield during a mid to late game.

Gray Merchant was a card I was unsure of but there's enough cards in the deck with 2-3 black devotion to make me feel its worth it. Plus I have a bit of a lifegain undertone just to allow me to do some degenerate drawing of cards and deluging. Necropotence, Grave Pact, Sheoldred, Sidisi, Phrexian Arena, Kokusho the Evening Star, and Noxious Gearhulk all add to black devotion and if you see the Gray Merchant line is within your grasp, these are the cards you should look for with tutors or what-have-you.

Profane Command is a great card and with having a Crypt Ghast and Mirari's Wake you can really hit someone hard with the life drain. To maximize Profane Command you will look to get both Crypt Ghast and Mirari's Wake on the battlefield and retrieve it with eternal witness and Greenwarden of Murasa. If one of them is in your graveyard then the two choices are easy and you can return Profane Command back to your hand to re-use. Just sac the eternal witness to one of the many sac outlets and wash rinse and repeat.

Westvale Abbey can make tokens and flip to make a serious threat and also works with our desire for more life in this game.

Massacre Wurm is a great card and I run 5 board wipes. Even if Massacre Wurm dies to a board wipe his second ability does trigger and you can do a serious amount of damage to the table. This deck rebuilds so quickly that reanimating Massacre Wurm really knocks the wind out of the opponents.

More to come. Adding when I can just to do it. I love playing the deck and if it inspires you awesome, and I am interested in any suggestions but I am pretty content as it is.

Thanks!
