A new restructuring of my old Karador deck. After playing many games with the older deck, it became apparent that the only real win condition I had was a huge Debt to the Deathless fueled by Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Coffers, usually assisted with a Garruk Wildspeaker. While a VERY effective way of ending a large multiplayer game (which I usually used the deck in), it was inherently boring/frustrating both for myself and my opponents, to win the exact same way every time. And seen as this deck isn't designed to be used in a competitive meta and my own playgroup being fairly low powered, I've decided to try and rejuvenate the deck somewhat.

First things first, as this deck is based off of my old Karador deck, a lot of the cards have remained the same. Don't fix what ain't broke right? However, one of my first desires was to add some more win conditions. These are meet with the addition of Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and Craterhoof Behemoth. Jarad allows me to sacrifice my whole team to damage the table, and with this deck's mana generating abilities, should be enough to win in 1 or 2 turns. The addition of Craterhoof means I have a serious chance to win though plain old combat damage, and synergises amazingly well with Vault of the Archangel, allowing me to trample over even more damage. Being able to recur Craterhoof to get his ETB effect multiple times is a great bonus if needs be too. I've kept Debt to the Deathless in the main deck, as it is still a fantastic way to end a game quickly and efficiently. But now, with the addition of Mana Reflection, is less reliant on the old Urborg and Coffers combo explained above.

Other than that, the deck is still very much a typical Karador, Ghost Chieftain deck. Casting creatures for value, usually through a variety of ETB effects. The natural resilience of Karador decks can make them tough to deal with for decks not prepared for it. However, exile effects (both battlefield and graveyard based a la Swords to Plowshares and Relic of Progenitus) do hurt a lot and can reduce the effectiveness of this deck significantly.

Seen as I have tagged it as a major part of this deck, I might as well do a comprehensive Birthing Pod list. This is a list of creatures, in CMC order, that I can "'pod for". This list also applies to Hibernation's End, as that card fulfils the same role as Birthing Pod, getting a creature curve out of my library. Albeit at a much more mana intensive way, but without requiring a creature to start the "chain".

CMC 1: Spore Frog

CMC 2: Elvish Visionary, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Qasali Pridemage

CMC 3: Big Game Hunter, Eternal Witness, Farhaven Elf, Fleshbag Marauder, Necrotic Sliver, Wood Elves, Yavimaya Dryad , Yavimaya Elder, Yavimaya Granger

Updates Add

Lot of new cards added to the deck and swapped out:

Sunblast Angel, World Queller, Sylvan Primordial, Garruk Relentless  Flip, Liliana of the Dark Realms, Diabolic Revelation, High Market and Petrified Field.

Massacre Wurmfoil, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Angel of Despair, Tooth and Nail, Yavimaya Elder, Eladamri's Call, Phyrexian Tower and Horizon Canopy

I've wanted to include Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite for quite a while. It adds perfect synergy to the entire deck. She buffs up my entire team (mostly comprised for smaller creatures with good ETB effects), while simultaneously shrinking my opponents'. With Elesh Norn in the deck, adding Massacre Wurmfoil means I can seriously punish other creature based decks that over extend.

Of course, getting both of these creatures into play at the same time uses up a considerable amount of mana. Adding Tooth and Nail into the deck seems a perfect fit, considering how well it works with other creatures in the deck. Took out Garruk Relentless  Flip as he'd typically fight a smaller creature, then kill himself with multiple activations of his -1 ability. World Queller also got the cut as it proved to be painfully slow and susceptible to attracting a lot of removal. Sunblast Angel was a difficult cut, but Massacre Wurmfoil seemed a reasonable replacement as a "boardwipe on a stick".

With the new banlist update from the release of Born of the Gods and the subsequent banning of Sylvan Primordial, added Angel of Despair back into the deck. It still gives me the permanent destruction the Primordial offered, as well as still fitting into the 7CMC slot in my Birthing Pod chain.

Yavimaya Elder has been sorely missing in this deck from its beginning. Unfortunately, Liliana of the Dark Realms has been under performing of late. Typically finding a single Swamp then dying, people recognising the power her ultimate gives to me when used with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Adding the 'Elder in gives me the land search Liliana did, as well as card draw on a creature.

Added in Eladamri's Call for instant speed tutoring for a cheap cost. Took out Diabolic Revelation, as having that and a lot of mana available would simply make the game "too easy". Typically finding 2-4 cards that I'd need to win the game that turn or the next. It was boring and repetitive.

Finally, High Market and Petrified Field where swapped out for Phyrexian Tower and Horizon Canopy respectively. Phyrexian Tower gives me a sacrifice outlet that also gives me additional mana, while Horizon Canopy adds another dual coloured land for mana fixing, as well as another land for use with Life from the Loam.
