This is the first deck I've built from the bottom up and I decided to go mono-Red with Krenko, Mob Boss as its commander. I've been running this deck through Forge with varied success. Here are some of the choices explained.

Krenko, Mob Boss is an absolute BEAST at token generation. If he's allowed to get started by turn 4, he can get really nasty. He also has a few nice combos:

Thornbite Staff has the triggered ability to untap equipped creature whenever a creature enters the graveyard. Couple the staff with Krenko, Mob Boss:

  • Goblin Sledder = Infinite Goblin Tokens and you can beef up all your creatures for the big swing.

  • Goblin Bombardment = Infinite Damage one damage at a time. Have a second Goblin in play before triggering this for infinite Goblin Tokens as well.

  • Skirk Prospector = Infinite Red Mana and Infinite Goblin Tokens

  • Ashnod's Altar = Infinite Colorless Mana. Have another Goblin present and it's Infinite Goblin Tokens, too.

  • Blasting Station = Infinite Damage. Have another Goblin present and it's Infinite Goblin Tokens, too; although, everyone will be dead before you get "infinite".

Another great benefit to Thornbite Staff is if you're playing against another player who depends on sacking creatures (like Black), Krenko goes NUCLEAR as you get to untap him then tap him again thus doubling your army outside of your turn!

Sword of the Paruns and Umbral Mantle both let you untap Krenko, Mob Boss for 3 colorless, but Sword of the Paruns is more expensive as it takes 4 to play, 3 to equip, then 3 to untap while Umbral Mantle only costs 3 to cast, zero to equip, and 3 to untap. Add Krenko, Mob Boss + Umbral Mantle or Krenko, Mob Boss + Sword of the Paruns :

  • Ashnod's Altar = Infinite Colorless Mana. Have TWO other Goblins present and it's Infinite Tokens as well.

  • Mana Echoes = Infinite Mana and Infinite Tokens. (The infinite colorless mana grows VERY fast).

If you have Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors out, all of the above combos become damaging as well. Gratuitous Violence was considered as a damage-doubler allowing Purphoros to end the game with as few as 10 Tokens, but its casting cost became a factor.

It can be argued that this deck is Artifact-heavy, but some explained:

Sol Ring and Sensei's Divining Top are givens in any EDH deck.

Rings of Brighthearth lets you use Krenko, Mob Boss twice for 2. Go from 10 to 40 without triggering an infinite. Explosive.

Coat of Arms allows the Tokens to grow more powerful each time you add.

Eldrazi Monument is more of a mid-game card as it makes everything flying and indestructible. As you're generating exponentially anyway, it shouldn't be a problem sacrificing one during upkeep. Also, Krenko, Mob Boss untaps during upkeep. If you have Thornbite Staff equipped, you can tap Krenko then the Monument forces you to untap thanks to the sac. Then you can tap and double tokens again!

Gauntlet of Might and Extraplanar Lens double Mountain output (which explains the Snow-Covered Mountains).

Others notables:

Stranglehold because if red can't tutor, no one can.

Battle Squadron gets stronger each time you tap.

Moggcatcher because who doesn't want to tudor for Goblins for three mana?

Gamble. A red tutor. Might as well call it Unicorn.

Goblin Chieftain and Goblin Warchief gives Haste which is very important.

Burn at the Stake and Goblin War Strike can wipe out a single player instantly.

Blood Moon and Price of Glory can slow down pesky Blue players who like to counter.

As I consider myself a beginner, any and all comments and suggestions are welcome!
