Cleaver Skaab should be called Clever Skaab, because he's got some of the funniest flavour we've seen on a card in a long time. How do you make two of something? Cut it in half!

Now, I'm sure it would be very easy to make a very powerful deck by splashing him in to some black-heavy build running the likes of Geralf's Messenger, Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed. But where's the fun in that? That deck's already plenty strong. A better use of the Skaab would be just pairing him with some funkier zombie cards who live and die (in this case, literally) on their CIP and leaves-play abilities.

A cheap way to get some more bang for your buck is anyone with Amass. Lazotep Reaver is decent at two mana for a 1/2 and a 1/1 zombie. But feed him to the Skaab and now you have two 1/2s and a 3/3! Not exciting enough? Try it with Eternal Skylord - not only will your army be buffed into a 6/6 flyer, but since both of your resulting Skylords are now tokens, they give themselves flying, too now! Gleaming Overseer can likewise give hexproof to any of your half-zombies, keeping your various combo pieces safe.

The fun doesn't stop at big tokens, though. The cheap Festering Mummy keeps piling -1/-1 counters on your opponent's side of the board while clogging up the ground with blockers. Relentless Dead can bring back the other cards you've sacrificed to the Skaab even while their token halves still run amok. Liliana's Standard Bearer is guaranteed to draw you at least two cards every time you bisect it. Perhaps nastiest of all, a sacrificed Noxious Ghoul gives all non-zombies -4/-4... and even more each time you make more copies of it. Your opponent's side of the board is sure to empty out in a hurry while your army of buffed tokens overruns him!
