Skill Borrower is one of my favorite cards from Alara block. I know, a lot of people just LOVE Master Transmuter , but Skill Borrower has a really fun ability, great art, and costs 1 less. All in all, a really fun card that's even better now that Scry is so prevalent.

this deck could easily be Modern legal, BUT Brainstorm is so incredibly effective in this deck, for the simple reason that it can put any card in your hand on top of your deck, that I'm willing to dip into legacy just for that.

Also, Sensei's Divining Top is banned in Modern, last I checked, and it's SO GOOD with Skill Borrower that I can't bring myself to take it out. With a Divining Top in play you can rescue your borrower from just about anything by tapping the top to draw a card, put the top on top of your library, then tap your borrower to do the same, not to mention you can set up your draws with it, which makes the borrower become just about anything you want.

I actually own most of this deck already, including the spiffy lands and divining tops, and it works fairly well, it's just boring. I thought adding in Trading Post and some other things would make it a bit more fun.

I'm torn between Mizzium Transreliquat and Phyrexian Metamorph. On one hand I have a card that can copy any creature or artifact I want it to, and on the other I have a card with skills that can be borrowed when it's in my deck still. I'll playtest with both and see what works best.
