Sideboard


ok guys. so i built a goblin deck and its fun and all. but it isnt as competitive as i had hoped. so ive built a red prowess/burn build. this deck has out performed goblins hands down, just alot of value here. below is a break down.

Titan's Strength - 3 extra power & 1 toughness for 1 mana plus scry, scry away a land you dont need or begin planning your next turns play. love titans strength.

Wild Slash - strictly better than Shock, 2 damage burn for early removal or late game potential finish. also triggers prowess.

Frenzied Goblin - pay 1 to clear a path for damage. most red decks are playing him as a one of.

Monastery Swiftspear - haste, prowess, 1/2 for 1. if your playing red you play this as a 4 of.

Lightning Berserker - i like that this card has dash, i have been hard casting early game and taking advantage of its fire breathing, it screws up combat math and works as a blocker if you leave mana up (which i almost never do, but hey its an option).

Zurgo Bellstriker - 2 power for 1 with dash for an extra mana, (we all remember martin dang avoiding sorcery speed removal and winning the pro tour by dashing zurgo right) from smashing helms to rigging bells zurgo is an orc bro for life.

Abbot of Keral Keep - prowess is sweet but abbots real value is his enter the battlefield exile effect, you can play him turn 2 if you miss a land drop, hit your mountain, then cast your 1 drops. alot of times you can cast abbot turn 3 and convoke a stoke the flames if you have 2 one mana creatures already out, this card is just sick.

Lightning Strike - strictly worse that Lightning Bolt but its still a 3 damage burn spell in standard.

Searing Blood - kills mana dorks/new jace/most stuff in the mirror/thopters, worth running mainboard in the current meta.

Exquisite Firecraft - sorcery speed..meh, but with spell mastery this card will resolve when you cast it. with how many 4 toughness creatures running around right now it should be in any red standard burn deck. 4 to the face son.

Goblin Rabblemaster - just running him as a 1 of, no reason not to, if he isnt answered he can win the game, alot of times he forces to use a removal spell or counter spell and i can just jam smaller creatures or spells thereafter.

Goblin Heelcutter - dash him for 3, shut down a blocker, hes awesome late game, most decks in (standard) red also run this as a 1 of with his bro frenzied goblin.

Stoke the Flames - convoke to stoke as early as turn 3, 4 damage at instant speed, one of the best burn spells in standard.

Arc Lightning - take out multiple small targets such as mana dorks or goblins in the mirror, or 3 dmaage to the face.

Rending Volley - blue white hate, good against esper dragons Dragonlord Ojutai Icefall Regent Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  , u/b heroic lagona band trailblazer Hero of Iroas etc.

Roast - for rhinos and tasigur, other 4 aqnd 5 power annoyhing creatures.

Smash to Smithereens - Alhammarret's Archive is in u/r turbo mill, we also have u/r thopters... and uggh...hangerback walker]].

Outpost Siege - in games where control, tempo or midrage is starting to slow you down cast this for extra card advantage or to deal damage as your creatures are eaten up. i usually go for card advantage, especially in a deck where im running so many 1 drops

Chandra, Pyromaster - i like her zero effect but i think it fits the build more than anything. walkers are always good to have o0n the board vs a control deck.
