This is a mono black deck that operates on three principles. First, creature removal, second, card advantage, and third, big creatures.

i'm splashing red for Dreadbore and to sideboard Rakdos's Return and Slaughter Games

this deck has a good record at FNM and often wins game one outright and then some more difficult battles at times when sideboard is a factor. weak against undying (gafdigger's cage in SB) and strong against aggro, untested against control, but i'm guessing this deck would be weak against control. but sideboard has answers in it. most games i play, i don't drop a creature before t5. i just play kill spells until my opponent runs out of gas. Liliana of the Veil can help speed up that process. i don't often run out of stream with Sign in Blood, Underworld Connections and Staff of Nin helping to keep the cards coming. if i do drop a creature early, its usually a Vampire Nighthawk to chump block where i would have used a kill spell instead. Crypt Ghast makes my side explode when i can drop Griselbrand or Staff of Nin and still have mana to kill whatever creatures are sent out to block. all in all, this is a very strong mono black control deck.

I've been changing things up a bit... the current list is so far the best overall i have come up with. i need red to have Dreadbore because plainswalkers kill me.and why have a SB card to deal with them when i can have a mainboard card that is effective with or without plainswalkers being in play.

i played well at fnm lastnight. my only loss was to the aristocrats when buddy sided in slaughter games, which took me by surprise and proceeded to swarm me after taking away mutilate, there being 3 in my hand at the time. other than that match i won all my other matches. very happy at how this deck performs right now.
