This deck is built to ramp mana fast to fire off into a
Mage-Ring Responder
as well as try to keep him up and running. Secondary is to channel that energy into Carter's claws for a game finish.
Finishers
Mage-Ring Responder
- the big dumb beater that likes the number 7. Unfortunately, he runs on AA batteries and they need to be swapped out frequently, so the supporter cards are there to keep him going
Genesis Hydra - with this much mana, he'll be big while yanking out our
Mage-Ring Responder
or Kruphix, God of Horizons
Crater's Claws - 5 mana storage sources, this is going to hurt...
Mindswipe
- because what is better than a counter-kill...
Ramp
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx
- classic devotion ramp
Rattleclaw Mystic - morph for burst and tap for relevant colors
Sylvan Caryatid
- doubles up as a solid blocker and more color ramp/fix
Support
Courser of Kruphix - life gain, blocker, yank lands off the top... she does it all
Kruphix, God of Horizons - he's here to store all that unused mana and he does a good job at it. Also, exile removal for gods is thin in the meta at the moment, so he'll be difficult to stop.
Prophet of Kruphix - untaps creatures and lands, give flash to creatures. The super accelerator! Works extremely well with Kruphix, God of Horizons to double mana generated into storage.
Bounding Krasis
flash blocker, and a tap/untap ability. Use offensively against blockers, defensively against attackers, or support style on
Mage-Ring Responder
to untap him
Kiora's Follower - tap to untap. Works on lands and our friend
Mage-Ring Responder
Anticipate - filtering draws a bit, solid...
Thassa, God of the Sea
- unblockable and scry. Always a bonus.
Mage-Ring Network - mana storage 2-5, while slower than Kruphix, God of Horizons, they still will do wonders as we will be playing with alot of tap and untap and they can empty all at once.
AEtherspouts - our defense against aggro as goblins/elves/soldiers and the like get blasted back into the deck.
Maybe board
under consideration:
Soul of New Phyrexia
- with all that colorless mana, he may be a good sync for his constant indestructible
Hangarback Walker - a good mana sync because of the double 'X' cost and if it were to go down, you get a flurry of little thopters to strike with.
Polukranos, World Eater - can monstrosity for massive amounts causing a one-sided boardwipe
