Mono-Green 12 Post Yay!
BASICS
The premise of this deck is to ramp using the 12 'Posts' of the deck and hard cast our Eldrazi friends. Cloudpost which adds mana exponentially depending on how many other Locus are in play,
Glimmerpost
which counts as a Locus and gives us much needed life gain, and lastly Vesuva and Thespian's Stage, which copy Cloudpost or a
Glimmerpost
in a pinch. Thespian's Stage is more for a Win-Con, copying Dark Depths to bust out a Marit Lage token.
LANDS
Karakas
has so much potential in this deck. I can bounce my own Eldrazi, netting their 'when cast' abilities, lock in infinite turns with Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Karakas
, and bounce Reanimator and Show and Tell critters back to the hand.
Glacial Chasm is amazing, and have you seen the awesome From the Vault art?!?! That aside, this card buys us a few turns against super fast Aggro, Burn, Affinity, and what not. A few turns are all we need to bust out Emmrakul, The Opponent Scoops, for the win. (Wizards should print an alternate version of Emrakul in a new Unhinged/Unglued set...). I've recently swapped it for Bojuka Bog main, as Bog is more relevant in more matchups.
Glacial Chasm moved to side.
Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage
is an instant 20/20 Flying, Indestructible Marit Lage. Khee hee.
We tutor for these lands with
Ancient Stirrings
, Expedition Map, Crop Rotation (great as an Instant and countermeasure against Wasteland effects), and of course Primeval Titan.
Karakas
and
Eye of Ugin
are other great targets for the aforementioned cards.
OTHER STUFF
Green Sun's Zenith help us find the creatures we need, especially Primeval Titan. Dryad Arbor can be fetched for zero with GSZ, allowing us some early ramp. Sensei's Divining Top helps us filter through cards to get what we need. All Is Dust and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon helps keep threats at bay, securing a win.
Oracle of Mul Daya is a recent add and often a removal target. When she sticks, I'm often able to get several extra lands out of her, pushing me into overdrive.
Pithing Needle is mainly to name Wasteland, the oh-so-prevalent card in the format that hoses our lands. It can also name Planeswalkers, Deathrite Shaman, Cranial Plating, fetch lands, etc. Quite the card.
An advantage this deck has over other 12 Post decks is Amulet of Vigor. Sure, it looks like a sucky card, but with 2x Amulets out the ability stacks, I drop a Cloudpost, and I'm able to tap it twice for mana... hehe. Amulet of Vigor + Cloudpost
is some serious broken mana. Amulet is even more broken in the mirror or against Legacy MUD.
I'm sure the Eldrazi need no introduction, but the utility offered by Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger rocks. Being able to exile two permanents is quite awesome. And he's Indestructible. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth draws cards. Sweet. Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is by far THE MOST POWERFUL CREATURE EVER TO BE PRINTED IN MAGIC! He wins games just by hitting the board. I drop him, opponent scoops.
SIDEBOARD, BAG OF TRICKSES
Relic of Progenitus can be searched for with
Ancient Stirrings
, further hosing Reanimator, TES/ANT, and Dredge.
Chalice of the Void is not only to hose Storm/TES/ANT type decks, but is quite versatile in what it can do. It's a new add and I look forward to seeing it's potential.
Leyline of Sanctity is a new add as it definitely rounds out my weaknesses to B/G/x (discard), TES/ANT, Burn, and so forth.
Sundering Titan puts the hurt on any deck that isn't mono. Legacy is full of dual land types like
Badlands
, Tropical Island, Underground Sea, etc. He can also be tutored for with
Eye of Ugin
.
Sacred Ground is extra Wasteland and Pox insurance. Will be taken out for EMN Splendid Reclamation
Choke because Islands suck. Looking at you, Miracles.
I've added Gaddock Teeg, to be tutored for with GSZ, mainly. He can stop Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Force of Will... Good times.
Maze of Ith may be taken out of the sideboard for another Leyline, but it's a decent placeholder for now.
Well folks, please give my green meanies some love!
My other competitive Legacy deck is
Do take a look! It's a super fast and effective RDW.
