Main Deck

The creatures:

• Dark Confidant gives us huge card advantage and can beatdown if the board is clear. The global curve of the deck is low enough so that the risk of dying from it is mitigated.

• Soulfire Grand Master is our bread and butter: lifelink for him AND our spells is huge. The mana sink late game is a very powerfull card advantage engine.

• Young Pyromancer is an excellent tokens generator. Nothing much to say here, they boost the raw value of almost every other card in the deck and, if not answered fast, will win us the game.

The spells :

• Path to Exile and Terminate need no presentation, best removals in the format.

• Lightning Bolt and Lightning Helix is either removal or reach, depending on the needs. Modern stapples anyway.

• Thoughtseize and Inquisition of Kozilek are cheap disruption, efficient against all non-aggro decks.

• Kolaghan's Command is versatility incarnated: burn, artifact hate, discard or recycling of one of our threats. Excellent.

• Lingering Souls for more tokens, more threats. Excellent card advantage and resiliency to discard.

• Zealous Persecution is needed for our deck to kill faster. It's also very efficient against opposing token or small creatures decks.

Sideboard

• Nihil Spellbomb and Grafdigger's Cage for graveyard hate. Cage is also good against Chord/CoCo decks.

• Fulminator Mage against Eldrazi, Tron and other manabase-dependent decks.

• Stony Silence as usual artifact hate.

• Wear / Tear as usual artifact and enchantment hate.

• More Lightning Helix against aggro and burn.

• Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet for its lifelink and exile effect.

• Engineered Explosives and Crackling Doom against hexproof, mainly for the Infect matchup but also Boggles.

Matchups

• Burn - Excellent. We have so many lifelink and cheap removals that we are much favored.

• Zoo - Good. Our many cheap removal can keep the board clear and lead us to a win. Caution though, a bad starting hand can mean death so do not hesitate to mulligan for fast removal.

• Tron - Very tough. You have to kill them asap, as Karn Liberated and Ugin, the Spirit Dragon means game loss. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger can be pathed though. Fulminator Mage and Stony Silence are key sb cards.

• Infect - Favored. They have few creatures and we have many cheap removals. Do not let your guard down and wait as long as needed before deploying threats, always keeping removal open.

• Affinity - Coming soon

• Merfolk - Tough. We have many removal but they have more creatures and if they get too many lords online, our Lightning Bolts and Lightning Helixes won't mean anything anymore. Also, Spreading Seas hurts our manabase bad.

• Hatebears - Coming soon

• Jund - Tough. Their attrition is real and we really need our Dark Confidant s.
