JOURNEY UPDATE: Master of the Feast is a direct replacement for Desecration Demon and Notion Thief is a direct replacement for Liliana's Reaver.

This deck is equipped to handle just about any type of deck out there. I haven't noticed any glaring weakness, though I'm sure someone can exploit chinks in the armor.

1. Keep the opponent's board clear using Ratchet Bomb, Drown in Sorrow, Hero's Downfall, Bile Blight, and Far / Away . You want control of the board early. You can't remove everything that his the board, the key is to remove the opponent's relevant creatures.

2. Draw. Draw again. Draw some more. Master of the Feast with Notion Thief is a disgusting combo. 5/5 flier for 3 mana and when teamed with the thief, grants you strong draw power along with Underworld Connections giving you access to much of your deck. Whispering Madness with Notion Thief is just unfair. All in all, this deck allows you to continually draw removal to keep the board clean and fuel Pack Rat like a boss.

3. Mid game control is another theme here. The draw power let's you go through your deck quickly to stock up removal spells, gain life, and to pump Pack Rat. Ashiok also adds a fun twist to the board as well. This puts extreme pressure on the opponent in several different ways which will usually overcome them.

I believe this deck succeeds because it works together like a well oiled machine. Not only does it get the ball rolling on its own, but it is also good at preventing other decks from building momentum. When it's hitting on all cylinders, it's a force to be reckoned with.

Side board is aimed specifically at enchantment/planewalker heavy control decks and aggro decks that can empty their hand in the first few turns. Those are the two weaknesses of this deck and while it can certainly win without the sideboard, it has a much higher chance of winning with the sideboard.
