Maybeboard

"It's easy to believe you're a god when you're twice as powerful as everyone else."

Especially with this kind of entourage...

Mayael has prayed, and the Angels and Gods have answered. With their combined power and the aide of her ally Garruk Wildspeaker, she will prevail.

This is my Mayael the Anima toolbox deck. Its kind of aggro-y but it takes enough time to set up that it's kind of midrange-y too.

I like to put all my ducks in a row before I go on offense.

Enter Birthing Pod! It does so much for improving the toolboxing capabilities of the deck. I can find a useful but expendable utility creatures only to pod them away next turn, cough cough Karmic Guide cough cough Double Score! I like toolbox decks.

Between Wild Pair and Pod, there are few creatures I don't have access to at a moments notice.

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger is the mana doubler I've been looking for. (supplemented by Mirari's Wake) I can now power out creatures AND my artifacts and enchantments.

Wild Pair is one of the main engines for the deck. I like to think it all works nicely in isolation, but with Wild Pair everything falls together. Answers and card advantage start falling out of my hand. Now that I have Vorinclex, I dont have to choose between Mayael activations and casting enchantments.

Regal Force and Garruk, Primal Hunter provide one-shot draw power, so much of it at times that I've ended up adding Reliquary Tower. Those heavy one-timers are supplemented by Soul of the Harvests gradual draw over time.

Privileged Position, Lightning Greaves and Avacyn, Angel of Hope provide some general protection.

Novablast Wurm and Balefire Dragon serve as convenient board wipers.

Warstorm Surge creates some EtB burn. Spot removal on demand...theoretically. Admonition Angel and Angel of Serenity are important pieces of spot removal too.

Basically the goal of the deck is to go big with fatties and wide with tokens generated by cards like Omnath, Locus of Rage, Rampaging Baloths and Titania, Protector of Argoth. These are aided by Life from the Loam, Knight of the Reliquary and especially Crucible of Worlds+Explorationesque cards.

Moving forward, my Maybeboard will consist of cards I am testing, and my Sideboard are the cards that have been removed to allow for those cards to get a tryout.

What does everyone think? It's reaching a happy point, and I find it very fun to play, but suggestions, +1's and conversation are always welcome. The game is always evolving.

So this deck has had some trials and tribulations as our playgroup has grown. The more people build for interaction, the more I find my crap getting stolen and killed. It gets going quicker than everybody else usually, so once I start swinging I'm the threat on the table. I guess that's why I have to ramp harder and get Mayael going faster.

My backup plan (main plan?) is to get a token army going between Rampaging Baloths and Titania, Protector of Argothfoil, Crucible of Worlds and my fetches. It's feeling kind of unwieldy at times. Clunky and slow at other times...explosive at best. I don't know what to think.
