We've got a pretty volatile combo, psuedo-control deck with the pay-off of winning the game on 4 of our cards, relying on 18 of our other cards to get there. But this is Magic, where we need 60 cards, and what are we going to do when we miss all 4 of those winning cards?-
Try, Try AgainWhen we miss on the draw, we've got a couple options to give things another try. As mentioned above, cracking clues in desperate situations can sometimes find us what we need. On cracking clues,
Tamiyo's Journal can Tutor our win con or the perfect answer to whatever our opponent is doing.
Part the Waterveil and
Gonti's Aether Heart are both special for this deck, because they not only offer us another turn for a second attempt at the win, but if we have 7+ clues AND
Mechanized Production already, taking the extra turn gives us the win con check before our opponent can even untap.(Waterveil is particualarly powerful, because our clues can help cast for the Awaken cost and, in a pinch, turn after turn of big land creature(s) can win us the game on their own)-
Free SwingsNow, back to that one copy of
Barricade Breaker. One of the most interesting effects of
Mechanized Production is that, to win the game, it doesn't have to be attached to the artifact that you have 8 or more copies of. So naturally, what's the biggest, most dangerous artifact that the deck can reliably cast that can be duplicated? You guessed it, the Uncommon guy we already got. Aditionally, on the concept of swinging for the win, as mentioned above, Waterveil for the Awaken cost can also beat down your opponent. (This deck is likely not the ideal build. Even though you can't cast it on the cheap with the Improvise mechanic,
Torrential Gearhulk might have a space in the deck, or one Breaker might not be enough for what you want to copy. I'm not 100% sure, and suggestions are welcome.)
