Searching out via Protean Hulk's trigger : (Dryad Arbor if its in the library) + (Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder if Ashnod's Altar isn't on the battlefield) + Melira, Sylvok Outcast + Disciple of the Vault + Lesser Masticore and placing these cards onto the battlefield.
Here's how this works.
You need:
- A sac outlet. (Viscera Seer or Carrion Feeder or Ashnod's Altar)
- A dmg outlet. Disciple of the Vault
- A way to go infinite. Melira, Sylvok Outcast
- Fodder. Lesser Masticore
Explained.
When you sacrifice Masticore to your sac outlet, you trigger Disciple, damaging your opponent,, When it comes back, Melira is on the battlefield and negative counters can't be placed. Repeat
Secondary Win Condition
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion = gun down opponents
How this works.
With Mikaeus on the field(first interaction), Triskelion is a 2/2(normally a 1/1) with 3 +1/+1 counters.
- Remove a counter, deal 1 damage to target opponent
- Remove two counters, deal 2 damage to Triskelion
Triskelion dies. Mikaeus gives undying, bringing Triskelion back to the battlefield with an aditional +1/+1 counter. So Triskelion is a 2/2 with 4 +1/+1 counters.
- Remove two counters, deal 2 damage to target opponent
- Remove two counters, deal 2 damage to Triskelion
Triskelion dies. Repeat
Combos:
Entomb + Footsteps of the Goryo = dump hulk into the yard then bring him to the battlefield until end of turn
Buried Alive + Footsteps of the Goryo = dump hulk into the yard then bring him to the battlefield until end of turn
(Reanimate or Animate Dead or Dance of the Dead) + sac outlet = target hulk in a yard and bring him to the battlefield to sacrifice for the win
Body Snatcher + sac outlet = gets hulk out of your hand and reanimates into a sac outlet
Buried Alive + Victimize = dump Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion into the yard, sac a creature and bring them back to the battlefield
Understanding your hand is key. Ideally, you'll have low cost tutors that you can fire through to jump into your combo.
You should be fine with soaking damage until you draw into your combo pieces. This decks focus is to search into combo pieces. You'll normally achieve this by turn 4/5. If you think you may have to grind out a couple of turns, Meren is a great way to have people waste removal spells. It's a win/win if they remove her because shes only there to push you ahead, in this way shes pulling removal from your opponents hand that could be used on other important pieces.
E-witness should be your number 1 choice among tutor choices outside of combos where you can win on the spot.
If you get stuck with Sidisi. Look at searching out Diabolic Intent to sac Sidisi, if you didn't sac her to herself. If you did, go search out e-witness.
If hulk gets exiled, you have two options:
Option A: You can look into switching into the Mike + Trike combo
Option B: Search out Riftsweeper
Likewise, if Mike + Trike gets exiled, fallback into hulk or search out Riftsweeper.
Don't overlook other cards in the deck. Apprentice Necromancer can lead to a turn 2 win with the right setup.
