[Mid]: This deck is designed for mid-power games as defined by PlayEDH--very expensive cards and highly-efficient wincons are deliberately excluded.

Design goals:

  • Priority 1: Win games at mid, but don't win so often that the deck gets kicked out of mid.
  • Priority 2: Make the deck resilient to interaction. Protect, recur, and don't overrely on specific cards.
  • Priority 3: Don't be a salt mine. spellslinger can't win without a certain amount of control and the possibility of a few long turns, but minimize these aspects as much as practicable.

Trying out Melek as commander. I think the same deck will work with Melek, possibly better because Melek is actively synergistic with spellslinger, whereas Keranos is basically just generically useful. Having an indestructible commander was very nice, but I couldn't help but notice people weren't even really trying to remove him other ways.

I'm making some other changes, too, but they're really not about the change to Melek; they're about making the deck better at what it already did.
