The Inspo (Adventure Time Spoilers!)

This is an Adventure Time Themed Deck loosely based on the episodes leading up to and comprising the finale of the series "Come Along With Me". For me, the show is a monumental achievement of artistry in a kids show format and the story arc in these final episodes stands up to some of the best work in the first 9 seasons. (Warning: I'm just skimming the plot here) The backbone of the final few episodes is the build toward the Gum War, which most of the characters in the show oppose, but which Princess Bubblegum , and her uncle/creation Gumbald. As the forces build up, and the two sides plan their attack strategy, Finn and Jake (and others) desperately try to deescalate. In a last ditch effort to stop the war just before the battle commences, Jake smashes a vial of nightmare juice forcing Finn, Jake, PB, Gumbald, and Fern into the dream realm to hash out their differences. As they exit the dream realm seemingly ready to declare peace, an apocalyptic disaster interrupts. Betty and King Man (and Maja) in a separate plot thread had been attempting to harness the power of the god of chaos "GOLB" in order to free the Ice King from the mind warping effects of the Ice Crown. Betty successfully calls forth GOLB, but it immediately begins consuming the realm. The Commander Version

This is a legends matter deck with adventure and food sub-themes that attempts to:

prioritize Adventure Time flavor over power
utilize cards from the plane of Eldraine (a stand-in for OOO) where possible
utilize adventure cards where possible
work as a deck (I think it does)

To that end, I've tried to cast all my characters in ways that make use of useful card text while still meeting the flavor of a character. I've prioritized images and names first, matching abilities second, and functional fit third. The cast list shows which cards I'm picking for each character, but I also have attempted to incorporate several candy themed cards, a sword, a summoning book, and a few other relevant plot devices that I felt I could fit. A few eldrazi cards fit in as GOLB and it's chaos agents, and the monster manual is there to "summon him".

Hits and Misses

I'm not totally sold on Goosemother as LSP, Obyra as PB, Ayara as Marceline, or Faeburrow Elder as Ricardio I think they work well enough, but for image and functional reasons I think they could be better. I have finn's arm, Fern's grass weapon, and a few other items I think would make the deck more powerful, or fit as subs or plot points in the maybe board because they didn't fit under 99 cap. Obviously there are a few adventure cards that could be helpful missing as well, but I had to prioritize land and ramp slots due to the five color nature and the fact that I never really shell out big for a premium land base (I just used what I had). Knower's of the show might point out that Peppermint Butler got reduced to his baby form earlier in the season, but Mintstrocity fits so well that I had to include him.

I do like Jodah as Finn since he's a multifaceted character and really wants to mediate an end to the war. I rather despise UB products but Karvanista is too good of a fit for Jake (and an adventure card to boot). I also think that Clackbridge Troll is great as the Earl of Lemongrab since he eats his own creations and he's rather horrible to be around!
