Midnight Gond, the Poor Man's Splinter Twin

Modern* Budget Infinite Combo

lord_blackfang

This is another ultra-budget Modern deck. It wins via infinite tokens from Midnight Guard + Presence of Gond .

Unlike Splinter Twin our tokens do not have haste, so we have to wait a turn after going infinite. This makes us vulnerable to mass removal. However, if we have a Bramblesnap on the board from the previous turn, it can tap the tokens and attack for infinite trample damage on the turn we combo off. Soul Warden (can be replaced with Essence Warden at our discretion) also gives us infinite life when we combo off, which can help us survive to re-assemble the combo if something unfortunate happens.

Other spells are there for blocking and protecting Midnight Guard. Also never forget that Vines of Vastwood counters the actual Splinter Twin.

If you have a better mana base available, you can splash red for Impact Tremors or Mass Hysteria and win as soon as you combo off. I do not.

Optimal play 1:

T1: Forest, Avacyn's Pilgrim

T2: Plains, Midnight Guard

T3: Forest, Soul Warden, Presence of Gond

T4: Swing with tokens for the win

Optimal play 2:

T1: Forest, Avacyn's Pilgrim

T2: Plains, Bramblesnap , Soul Warden

T3: Midnight Guard

T4: Presence of Gond, swing with Bramblesnap for the win

I am open to suggestions for the deck and especially the sideboard. Thanks for looking!
