This is my second version of a wizard blue devotion deck. Ive learned a few things since then and have incorporated those into this build that is a world different and a more straight forward win condition.
First and foremost I am building this deck because I want to abuse Azami, Lady of Scrolls. Getting me any number of cards if she only resolves is really powerful.
Voidmage Prodigy Such a lockdown card with enough food and a great source of devotion.
Sea's Claim , Spreading Seas are providing the same services although both being better than the other in either CMC or cantrip. But they are about the devotion not only creature based but usually used on an opponents land therefore taking more options away to take it off the board.I have spent alot of time trying to justify these cards. There is not much else I would want to run and honestly even at their almost worst making a Steam Vents for example an island t1 and provide 1 devotion. Seems that could be an ok justification Plus the ramifications to things like abzan and mono red.
Then there is two staples for a blue devotion deck and also happen to be wizards,
Tidebinder Mage
and Master of Waves. So point made there.
Venser, Shaper Savant Serves a very interesting purpose being a counterspell, bounce, devotion, and dude all in one. 4 Please.
Sage of Epityr 1 CMC manipulation of draws that is also a wizard.
Vedalken AEthermage Is an uncounterable tutor for any creature in my deck. So dumb!
Mark of Eviction Doesnt provide devotion persay, but it does provide a level of control and ability to keep bouncing a creature of my choice. Be it yours to just stall you or be ready with Voidmage Prodigy or one of mine like Sage of Epityr or Master Biomancer With a second one in play, or one of 4 other creatures that benefit.
This deck has possibilities! With 379 wizards overall including 196 blue ones and a tutor to grab whatever! Ive had fun so far. Tell me what you think!
