MOMIR VIG ELFBALL COMBO

This deck follows the Official MTGO Banlist for 1v1 Commander but can easily be adjusted/empowered by adding banned card like the ones in the maybeboard. Similarly, we can reduce the power level of the deck and make it less frustrating for casual multiplayer groups by using commanders like Ezuri, Claw of Progress or Rashmi, Eternities Crafter

Historically, Momir Vig as a commander is played in a U/G Toolbox type of build. This deck is a step back from that and makes use of the fact that Momir, as an elf, sockets neatly into a strategy often overlooked by even the most dedicated elf players in favor of token strategies that are very susceptible to disruption.

The combination already boasts some serious utility on its own, pair that with the combo speed of elves and we have the ability to fire off in several different, easy ways and win as early as turn 3.

Let's check out a few of the hundreds of combos available to you in this deck:

One of the main combos in the deck, we utilize our commander early as an infinite tutor, constantly searching and dropping new creatures and searching again off the trigger.

This is done using the following cards:

Momir VigMind Bend Sleight of Mind Whim of Volrath

Utilizing these cards on Momir causes an interesting effect. If you modify Momir's "Blue" text to say "Green" then every time you cast a green creature spell we get to search for a green creature and put it into your hand. This can then be used to set up some massive creature combos, assuming you have infinite mana of course.

The best part is, Mind Bend and Sleight of Mind are both permanent effects that don't end with the turn!

The cornerstone of a good elf deck is the ability to generate infinite mana early and easily. This enables the rest of the game to go your way and make the deck do what you need it to do.

Being that this is so important, the deck is loaded with ways to get it.

Staff of Domination

Staff of Domination is a combo piece on its own. If you have one creature that can for 5 mana (i.e Priest of Titania, Elvish Archdruid, or Wirewood Channeler) you can use the staff to gain infinite life, draw infinite cards, or manipulate the creatures on the board as you see fit.

Cloudstone Curio

Cloudstone Curio is a favorite among combo players. It is used in multiple ways to turn an otherwise boring board-state into an infinite combo. Using cards like Lightning Greaves, Concordant Crossroads, Thousand-Year Elixir, and Swiftfoot Boots to achieve haste on your creatures, you can utilize multiple small mana dorks to work your way to infinite mana through clever bouncing with curio.

Intruder Alarm holds its own in this deck very well. Giving you the ability to generate massive amounts of mana from creatures to spend on more creatures is a cycle that, paired with the modified Momir combo from earlier, will dump your entire deck very quickly. Pair with Lys Alana Huntmaster for quick mana and double triggers on every elf spell you cast and with cards like Glimpse of Nature or Primordial Sage to generate draws as long as you are churning out creatures one-after-another!

Paradox Engine

Paradox Engine speaks for itself here. The card goes with every spell in the deck to generate tons of value. Its not a far step from having a few creatures that generate mana to having the ability to cast every spell in your deck. The possibilities are endless!

Heritage Druid

Heritage Druid is generally used to generate massive mana from elves, but when paired with Quirion Ranger, Nettle Sentinel, and Wirewood Symbiote you can play any creature you have access to and as long as you play elves, you'll generate more mana!
