This is Mono Black 4 Colour, the second in my series of Mono 4 Colour decks. Heading up the team here is Yidris. In fact, Yidris is most of the team. The idea for this deck was to play a pure Voltron deck, all focusing around cascading into stuff that helps Yidris get bigger and kill. (For those who dont know, Voltron refers to a deck that focuses on killing with commander damage. Most of the cards are enchantment or artifacts that give your commander protection and power. White is usually ). While deck building it kind of transformed into a discard based strategy as a secondary win con. This works really well with Yidris and you dont really need cards in hand to cast lots of spells thanks to cascade. It also works with Voltron to an extent because Bonehorde is a thing. Really it's all just tight synergies and rude cards.

Just for reference, it is possible to get cascade 7 on all of your spells post-combat. The combo is Yidris, Maelstrom Weilder + Seize the Day (flashback) + Temur Battle Rage (or anything that gives Double Strike) + Strionic Resonator . Three Combats + Double Strike = 6 instances of damage. Add an extra instance of the effect from Strionic Resonator . This deck isn't trying that hard to break Yidris, and this is still possible. Great card wizards!

Moving on, What does each colour add here, why are they important

I feel the need to add a colourless section for this list because there are more artifacts here than I anticipate being in the rest of the lists. This is, of course, to do with the Voltron aspect of this deck. Equipment are every good at making one guy large and in charge. This deck is also missing White, which really is the best colour for Auras (the other half of great Voltron effects). Because of this, we are leaning a little heavily on the artifacts. The traditional equipment is all here with the exclusion of Lightning Greaves. I think Swiftfoot Boots is good enough for that type of protection and I think the downside of not being able to target our Dude due to Shroud out ways the extra mana to equip. You also get some great power equipment as well with Lashwrithe and Bonehoard. Beyond that it's either utility (Nim Deathmantle or Geth's Grimoire) or finishers (Aetherflux Reservoir or Grafted Exoskeleton ).

Evasion. Blue is a really good colour for Voltron because it has a lot of ways to make a creature unblockable. I used a lot of Fear effects because that seems to be the best way to achieve unblockable in black, but I cant help throwing in Aqueous Form and Thassa, God of the Sea. They are just too good. Beyond that you have some board control in Cyclonic Rift (this will probably be in each deck that has blue as its pretty nuts), Dig Through Time to get you where you need to go, Spelltwine for some recursion and shenanigans, and Windfall to help out with the discard strat. Spoiler Alert, Waste Not + Windfall is kinda busted. In the gold cards we have Consuming Aberration (which is a win con in two ways), Sleeper's Robe (for that sweet, sweet evasion), and Whispering Madness (for the discard strat. Putting it on Yidris works out real well).

Double Strike! 3/5 here are just ways of giving My Dude double strike. It's so good in Voltron, and friggin broken with Yidriss ability. Magus of the Wheel helps with discard strat and Blasphemous Act gives you a little more board control. In the gold cards we have Vial Smasher the Fierce cause it's fun. A lot of the spells in the deck have high mana costs to work well with cascade and that just so happens to work with Vial Smasher as well.

Two cards here are just to get either Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or Cabal Coffers for obvious reasons. Urborg is really helpful when it comes to Lashwrithe and Nightmare Lash as well. Alpha Authority is the only other mono-green card. Some good protection and evasion all rolled into one. Can't turn that up. Just a one of in the gold cards in Nath of the Gilt-Leaf to help with the discard strat. Xenagos, God of Revels as well from G/R. I'm not sure where best to put him so I will just put him here. Having a 10/10 unblockable, haste, double strike dude that deals commander damage is real good. Xenagos allows for some pretty crazy wins out of nowhere.

That pretty much wraps it up for Yidris. I felt like this deck is a lot ruder than Kynaios and Tiro but that is to be expected with black. Check back next time forIm actually not sure what Im going to build next, but check back anyway!

TL;DR Mono Black 4 Colour. Hit people with your dude so you can cast spells for free. All the cards in the deck either make your dude hit better, make your opponents discard cards, or capitalise on those effects. Rude, but strong.
