This is a mono black control deck for a budget-conscious player. With a standard formatted dominated by powerful creatures like Siege Rhino and Mantis Rider , the deck packs lots of removal. A lot of the removal is in the form of Fleshbag Marauder and Merciless Executioner which let you sacrifice a low-value creature for a high-value creature of theirs. Look to sacrifice Bloodsoaked Champion or Carrier Thrall which can be brought back later or merely turned into a token. Duress is run in the main deck to aggressively disrupt our opponent's plans.

Around mid-game, a Demonic Pact can help you stabilize a board that is otherwise slipping away. There is one Ancestral Statue in the deck which will let you reset the pact.

This deck packs many powerful singleton answers that can be retrieved its Dark Petition, although try to wait to cast it until you can get the mastery effect. Then depending on the board state, you can get a variety of answers: Virulent Plague for tokens, Languish for board clear, Read the Bones to refill hand, or Erebos's Titan for a brawler.

The sideboard mostly gives you access to different kinds of removal, to optimize game 2 and 3.

This is my budget deck for November which can be acquired for under 14 tickets. My record in just-for-fun constructed games is 10-5.
