This deck is designed to win early but unlike most haste decks doesn't become worthless if you haven't won by mid game because there are multiple cards to help you out.
The idea of the deck is to get small fast hitters out on your first couple of turns, then use any of the burn cards such as lightning strike to clear out your opponets small creatures or use Frenzied Goblin ability or Madcap Skills to get through their defenses.
Frenzied Goblin - Used as a turn one creature that will later be the main source of synergy by making your oponet unable to block.
Rakdos Cackler
- A turn one 2/2
Rakdos Shred-Freak
- A turn two 2/1 with haste that also give two red devotion.
Arena Athlete
- Used to help with avoiding enemy blockers.
Mogis's Warhound
- Useful as a 2/2 or bestowable aura that can be used on turn three.
Minotaur Skullcleaver
- This is a turn three 4 damage hitter.
Prophetic Flamespeaker - Very useful to sneak in a big hit the turn after you play it by using Madcap Skills or Dragon Mantle. And his ability helps on those later turns by playing the cards you exile it.
Shock - one mana cost burn.
Lightning Strike - Burn Card
Fated Conflagration
- Great game ender on those games where you have 5 life or less to get through (which is common among most haste decks), or of course a good burn card on any decent sized creature.
Dragon Mantle - Perfect for this deck, not only is it a draw mechanism it is great on every turn of this game especially when you have no other cards in your hand to spend your mana on.
Madcap Skills - Another perfect bypasser of opponents blockers and deals more then plenty of damage.
Fanatic of Mogis - great mid game burn card and its a 4/2.
The deck has many ways to get through defenses and as you can tell you don't have to win on turn 5 for it to be effective. Example of good combos are anything + having Frenzied Goblin on the field.Prophetic Flamespeaker + Madcap Skills Creatures + Fanatic of MogisOr really any creatures + Dragon Mantle or Madcap Skills
I plan to replace the outgoing set of creatures such as Rackdos Cackler and
Rakdos Shred-Freak
as soon as I find better replacements. As for now they are still cheap enough to play before they get bumped out of standard.
Arena Athlete
and
Minotaur Skullcleaver
are still iffy for this deck I may find a better replacement such as Eidolon of the Great Revel but I'm going to play test it some more first.
This deck has held up well against a Dredge Deck, an izzet Young Pryomancer deck, and a Heroic Dimir deck. Looking forward to trying it an FNM next time I get a chance. I played it against a G/W creature deck but it was very hard to beat due to the good control of exile and bigger creatures early game.
I'm looking for help on the sideboard and I'm open to any suggestions to the deck itself as well.
