This deck is designed to control my opponent by killing his creatures and slowly dealing damage to him until finally I use one or more of my double damage cards to deal out a lot of damage.
Vulshok Sorcerer
and
Cunning Sparkmage
allows me to kill creatures and planeswalkers a lot more easily, Jeska, Warrior Adept does the same thing but it also gives me a combat advantage.
If my opponent has no dangerous creatures on the battlefield then I'll use these creatures to deal damage directly to the player, which would also put quest counters on my
Quest for Pure Flame
.
Once my
Quest for Pure Flame
(or if I've got more than one which is even better) gets enough counters I'll sacrifice it/them then use
Beacon of Destruction
, Comet Storm, Incendiary Command or Banefire to deal out a lot of damage by doubling the damage once or multiple times. I could also sacrifice my quests and then attack with a large creature.
There are other double damage permanents I have like Fire Servant, Curse of Bloodletting and
Gratuitous Violence
but they're more of a distraction for my quests but if they work it also works well.
I've got spells that can kill larger creatures and planeswalkers when my sorcerers and sparkmages aren't enough to finish the job like
Fated Conflagration
which also has a nice scry 2 ability which is very useful. Lightning Bolt is an obvious choice for creature removal and even for dealing damage to my opponent when needed. Comet Storm can also be used to kill multiple creatures with a higher toughness than normal. Incendiary Command can be used as a Pyroclasm and for drawing card and land destruction.
Beacon of Destruction
can be used to kill creatures but I'd rather use it on a player.
For my mana base I thought that the more mountains I have the better because of
Koth of the Hammer
and Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. Both of these cards will be more effective so I decided with 24 lands, 21 of them are mountains and 1 of them is Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle. As for the other two lands I have
Shivan Gorge
and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.
I don't have to explain why I've got my planeswalkers in this deck.
Chandra Nalaar
and
Koth of the Hammer
are just really useful. My planeswalkers and my large creatures can also be used as bait for counters or destroy spells if needed.
As for my large creatures, they are used to scare my opponent because if they don't kill them or counter them etc they will eventually die. Charmbreaker Devils is useful for getting an instant or sorcery card back from my graveyard into my hand and it can get buffed to a very high power level. My
Obsidian Fireheart
is one of my favourite creatures of all time because it is useful for near enough any deck type be it control or hexproof or whatever, I'll just blaze all of your lands and wait for you to die. If
Obsidian Fireheart
dies then the blaze counters are still on the lands and continues to deal damage. A fully leveled up [[Lord of Shatterskull Pass][ would destroy everything in its path if it attacked. Inferno Titan and Thundermaw Hellkite are just massive bombs as well, the dragon is faster than the titan and the titan is stronger than the dragon.
Hateflayer
can potentially deal 10 damage when attacking.
To finish the deck off would be with my sideboard. At the moment it isn't entirely complete because I haven't playtested this deck enough yet but at the moment this decks weaknesses are stupid life gaining and playing against decks with an insane amount of hexproof crap.
