Mono-U Rube Goldberg

Commander / EDH

Grem-Zealot

Do you enjoy a puzzled look on your opponents' faces as they watch you combo off? Do you like winning through counter magic simply because they have no idea what the hell you're doing?

Then let me introduce you to Patron of the Moon, the best color-pie break you never knew you always wanted!

So how this deck works is you get out Patron and then dig for Amulet of Vigor; this is the core of every one of the deck's combos.

Next, you need to have Extraplanar Lens, Caged Sun, Coral Atoll, or Nykthos. Coral Atoll is the least powerful of them, and in some of the combo chains it won't work.

Once you have one of the mana engines, you need a card that will repeatedly bounce your own lands to your hand; Uyo, Meloku, Storm Cauldron, or Ovinomancer. Ovinomancer is the newest - and worst - of your options. It requires Greaves and for there to be a third creature in play, or Boots (it can target itself) - however the Boots line is the most taxing to your mana; Nykthos with sufficient devotion is the only one that will work alone.

You now have generated infinite mana! Any of the mana sinks (as well as a half-dozen other cards) will now act as win conditions.

Now, I'm sure that you've identified some problems: this deck is very weak to aggro. All of the combos break if I lose Amulet of Vigor or get locked out of Patron. The combo requires at least 4 different cards and can need up to 6 or 7. Sometimes you assemble a combo, but you don't net-gain mana.

So I have some alternate win conditions; Nezahal, Primal Tide is very hard to remove and is a respectable body. Stormtide Leviathan ends games.

My personal favorite is floating all of my mana right before my turn, casting Sunder, dropping all my lands back down, and then watching everyone scoop. Overloaded Cyclonic Rift after I untap is optional.

I also have some recursion; Buried Ruin can save Amulet. Crucible can save Ruin - as well as Nykthos and Atoll. Crucible justifies playing fetches, as the guaranteed land drops are amazing.

It is also possible to win if you make a combo that doesn't have infinite mana: Sunscorched Desert. I can also gain infinite life off of the Locus or Fountain.

Mana Breach gives us a lot of sustaining power if we're missing a better way to bounce our lands - provided you can keep casting spells. Having out Kefnet, Azure Mage, or Sphinx of Magosi can let you dig pretty well if you have multiple mana doublers (or Training Grounds!).

However, I do have a lot of tutors in the deck that really do help the consistency. This beast works a lot better than it should.

Throw in all of the extra Stuff (see what I did there?) to have a little extra presence and protection.

But the number one thing that I have found to playing this deck is Politics. If you don't look like you're much of a threat, people aren't very likely to mess with you too much. Be polite, don't talk smack, and have a good poker face.

I am aware that there are some other (probably better) ways that I could build this, but I've never played a deck that was this piece-meal, and it's the primary thing that makes me want to play it.

If you are aware of any cards that could be combo pieces please me know - also, I am aware of the other Moonfolk. I've tried all of them and Meloku and Uyo are the only ones I liked.
