Hey guys! After 4 years of quitting MTG I started playing again. The deck you are seeing is the deck I still have but right now it's a mess. I feel that some cards don't belong in the deck and the midgame is too slow. I play very casual games with my friends, the only rule we set is that our decks needs to be Modern. The thing is, I have no clue about the cards that have been released the last few years and I wonder if there are some cards that fit this deck, new or old cards. I really hope you guys maybe have some tips or changes to make this deck smooth again! Thanks in advance.

The cards I definitely want to remove are: Culling the Weak (not modern) and Blood Seeker.

The cards I'm considering buying are: Putrefy, Dash Hopes, Phyrexian Arena. I also want to increase the quantity of some cards but I'm not sure yet. (Llanowar Wastes for example)

I'm not sure about these new cards and willing to change them and buy other cards.

Deck strat: Killing your own creatures can work to your advantage. Awakening Zone helps along great with this strategy. Sac the spawns to trigger Reaper from the Abyss for example. You can also use the spawns to gain life and let your opponent lose life with Blood Artist. Sac the spawns to trigger Tragic Slip. Combine Awakening Zone with Dictate of Erebos and force your opponents to sac a creature every turn etc.

Now don't think deck is Awakening Zone dependant, it just helps. There are also cards that have less synergy with the spawns; Young Wolf, Duress for T1 drops. Vampire Nighthawk for mid game. And Cultivate ofcourse, which both helps getting the big guys like Massacre Wurm and Vorapede early on. Sheoldred, Whispering One is the cherry on top.
