Muldrotha Staxx Deck

Commander: Muldrotha, the Gravetide

This is my first take at a VERY Pricey Muldrotha Staxx build from my old cards I don't use but have been looking at recently because of their ridiculous price spikes. This is a new, not yet optimal deck. It is expensive, but not tier one. It might be able to get there? NOt sure, don't care. It is oh so cruel for all but the edgiest 'casual' games, however. It is light on protection right now and quite heavy on draw and slightly heavy on ramp. Plenty of staxx cards. This deck has 3 wincons: Muldrotha beats, slow & steady staxx grind, or despair scoop. The last 2 are more likely and kinda the point. Not a quick game either. Also, no need for flash-effects like Vedalken Orrery or Leyline of Anticipation (in my opinion) as they are at the high end of this deck's curve (yes, it's true) and you want to lay a lot of your cards during your turn to then grind at opponents during their upkeep. I am willing to bet that you could certainly slot in Alchemist's Refuge in an optimal build.

There is no need for the pricey stuff or even fancy duals. Fixing off a cheap mana base and workable alternatives like Magus of the Abyss are perfect replacements. The whole point is to keep the deck low to the ground, get out Muldrotha ASAP and disrupt with the first level of staxx to get to the late game where mana, the accumulation of staxx resources, and asymmetry generated by Barrin, Master Wizard, Sage of Lat-Nam, Contagion, Mindslicer, Smokestack, etc in combo with Muldrotha makes things too painful to go on. Most decks don't fight opponent's hands, fixing, or even mana-base destruction staxx-style as a wincon. As such, you can be very effective, but once the playground is onto you, you'll probably have to put more protection in (fog frog, Propaganda, etc.) or form alliances early as you'll be seen as a bully. Ahhhh - nothing like an archenemy game you win....
