A Junk deck that isn't Reanimator.... go figure.
Creatures and spells by CMC
1CMC
Young Wolf - Good one drop. Activates Blood Artist and can sacrifice to Cartel Aristocrat early on if you need it.
Tragic Slip should be fairly obvious. Feeds Blood Artist with one of your tokens. Can slip a painful early Boro's Creature like Lightning Mauler. Pretty flexible really. Also, you can nail something with a Putrefy then Tragic Slip something else. 4 mana for two dead creatures. I like it. Sacrifice a token to Cartel Aristocrat then Tragic Slip something of theirs.. it makes them go sad face.
Doomed Traveler doubles as an early blocker if needed. Feeds Blood Artist as well as makes an excellent sacrifice for Cartel Aristocrat.
2CMCCartel Aristocrat is a great early on card. Especially if you can get the one drop Doomed Traveler out. Will allow you enough time to stall out an aggro deck like Red Deck Wins or anything else. Plus allows you to swing away if you got a token to sacrifice without him being killed.
Blood Artist he just demands attention. Sure he can be snagged with about anything. But if they leave two copies of him out, you get some tokens flying around to Sac. to Cartel Aristocrat... it gets ugly fairly quick. Espeically with Lingering Souls hanging around.
Strangleroot Geist is just an all around good card in a deck like this imo. Gives you a swinger/blocker early on. You can even Sac. him to cartel if you're in a pinch and undying brings him back even stronger.
3CMCSin Collector might be the odd man out. Sure he will let you snag something out of a control deck, burn deck or something otherwise that would hurt, but I'm not sure he don't belong in the sideboard for that occasion rather than being mainboarded.
Vampire Nighthawk has won me a lot of games. One of the best black cards printed imo. He just does a lot. Stalls out aggro, requires attention to waste a
Searing Spear
or something of the like. He drops, you must pay attention to him somehow.
Putrefy is a nice card for a B/G/W deck. I didn't have it in, then quickly realized that I needed some more direct spot removal options. I like it.
Lingering Souls is just a beast of a card. Provides all kinda Sac. outlets for Cartel Aristocrat and then Blood Artist loves it when that happens. Like it.
4CMC
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
is just sexy. Provides the 1/1 lifelinkers for sacrificing, can boost those 1/1's as well as the other tokens around, then if he gets into the late game... yeah. -6 I'll take those 3 permanents thank you very much. Nothing like it when you can steal their planeswalkers or anything else they got that's giving you a hard time.
SIDEBOARD
Appetite for Brains
- Comes in against control. Can snag that Supreme Verdict or any big beater creature they may be holding.
Abrupt Decay can come in against a couple other things. Against aggro it can replace Putrefy and make things a bit faster for you. Can come in against control so you can snag something away without it being countered. Just a solid card.
Blood Baron of Vizkopa if you're playing something that is slow. He comes in and starts beating away.
Golgari Charm is just a really nice card. Against tokens it's deadly. You might be saying, but wait.. you run a lot of tokens. True that. That's why I try to leave a lingering souls in the gravyard if I can, or a couple things in my hand if I have to go to game 2 and sideboard this in. Golgari Charm their tokens for -1/-1 and then drop the souls right back after it OR if you just so happen to have 2 copies of Golgari Charm... well then.. regenerate your creatures, then -1/-1 everything. We like that.
And last but not least Rest in Peace. Suck it Reanimator.
