Abyssal Gatekeeper-Functions as a removal card and sac trigger at the same time, plus low CMC
Avenger of Zendikar- Late game powerhouse that can put lots of tokens on the field for sac effects
Blood Artist- General synergy card that works well with the amount of sacking i do, 1 life at a time adds up, especially when I sack multiple creatures a turn
Catacomb Sifter- Great card, synergy with creatures dying that gives me a way to filter my deck and creates a token that ramps itself
Caustic Caterpillar- Cheap CMC that deals with non-creature removal and generates a sac effect
Creakwood Liege- Creature that buffs my tokens so swinging with them is more viable and generates a token every turn, and only for 4 mana!
Dawntreader Elk- Worse version of
Sakura-Tribe Elder that helps with ramp and triggering sacrifice
Doomgape- Powerful late game finisher when combined with
Lightning Greaves that can also gain life through sacking itself or other creatures
Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder- A very powerful token generator, as long as i remember to alway sack my thrulls so he stays on the field
Eternal Witness- One of the best recursion creatures/spells in magic, especially helpful in such a graveyard based deck. Plus with Meren I can play it over and over
Fleshbag Marauder- Similar to
Abyssal Gatekeeper in functioning as a removal and sac trigger, just for 1 extra mana
Glissa, the Traitor- Didn't think this would be useful, but It is an unbeatable blocker I can get out in the early stages of the game, and can make sure my
Lightning Greaves,
Birthing Pod, and
Skullclamp don't stay removed
Golgari Grave-Troll- Just a synergy card that can be a beater or just put lots of cards in the graveyard with dredge.
Golgari Thug- Synergy card with a high dredge count
Grave Titan- Awesome token generator and game finisher. Originally didn't include him but after watching deck tech after deck tech include him I thought he was a must.
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord- pretty powerful card for 4 mana that has a occasionally handy sacrifice effect stapled onto it
Lotleth Troll- Early game beater, that also helps if I have a creature in my hand I'd rather cheat into play
Magus of the Abyss- helpful creature in letting me selectively remove opponents creatures, and I almost always have a cheap creature I can blow up on my side
Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest- Included due to him being Meren's "co-commander" in the pre-built, and having the potential to power my board
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed- Being able to sac creatures twice and giving them all those bonuses? VERY strong in this deck and is apart of my one infinite combo

Mycoloth- I like to think of him as junior
Avenger of Zendikar, can create quite a few tokens.
Nantuko Husk- My sleeper finisher, whenever I swing with lots of creatures, he gets no blocks as he isn't originally as big, then hits for lots of damage.
Necrotic Ooze- Interesting card that I think of as my sort of toolbox. Since my graveyard is usually full, this has quite a few abilities that i can pick what is the most convenient at the time
Nyx Weaver- Helpful for feeding my graveyard, and also has a eternal witness mana ability stapled onto him.
Puppateer Clique
- Part of an infinite combo with
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed provided I have a sac outlet. But even without that this card is just fantastic with a great ETB effect
Reclamation Sage- Like
Caustic Caterpillar but handier with Meren's recursion because I don't have to spend mana
Sakura-Tribe Elder- My favourite Early game ramp creature. Best feeling in the world is sacking this, getting a land, end of turn Meren bringing it back so I can get another land. Plus the 2 experience counters from it.
Satyr Wayfinder- A way for me to put more cards in the graveyard, after that it's just a sac creature
Sengir Autocrat- Pretty efficient creature that helps me put tokens on the board
Shriekmaw- Very good with Meren's recursion, one of the best "removal spells" in my deck
Sidisi, Undead Vizier- Very Strong defender with a search ability stapled onto her, that i can use through sacking a creature! very good in this deck
Smothering Abomination- Added due to me wanting more fliers and card draw, this did both for the price of sacking creatures
Solemn Simulacrum- Also Very good in this recursion deck because it Ramps and draws cards! both things every mage player loves
Spike Feeder- This one is only a %(MVP) due to him being apart of the infinite life combo, other than that it's less than mediocre
Spore Frog- I like it because i usually can have an extra mana floating around to cast him, gets my sac triggers up early in the game, and that ability keeps me alive! Yay!
Thragtusk- Very strong ETB effect and LTB effect (tokens!) plus makes a solid beater.
Varolz, the Scar-Striped- More of just a general graveyard synergy card that's a lower CMC so i know i can have pressure out earlier
Viridian Emissary- Part of my Ramp and Sac group, probably the weakest because it doesn't have a sac trigger on him but he finds ways to die anyways...
Wurmcoil Engine- Very strong card that I often try to get on the field. It can be brought back with
Glissa, the Traitor or another reanimate, and then can be sacrificed three times with it's tokens. Lots of value.
Zulaport Cutthroat- Weaker version of
Blood Artist, but still pretty good in this deck
