So having only just finished the main board of this deck and still missing a wooded foothills i took this to gameday. I didn't have a proper sideboard so made do with a 4th thoughtseize, 4 bile blights and 4 murderous cuts. I lost my first 2 games purely because i hadn't sleeved my side board and didn't want to waste time on the clock (lazy i know but i double sleeve and was completely unprepared). I learned my lesson and sleeved it up after game 2. I then went on to win my next 3 games.

This made my final score 3-2, which shows the deck is at least functional.

Game day showed me three things.

1: Cards like Crux of Fate and Atarka are useless to me. Even with early Coursers, Crux was usually a dead draw, far too much mana for a deck which hits it's apex at 5 CMC. I found bile blight and murderous cut far more serviceable to my needs. On the subject of Atarka, she sat in my hand 90% of the time and when she did briefly see play she was downed by a stoke the flames. While i don't doubt the card power, playing Atarka without haste or protection is just a waste.

2: Having so many cards which specify 2 mana of a single colour is a problem, green is usually fine because the dorks can take things from there, but not having 2 black mana sources early on is a real problem. This is the main reason i have for mainboarding Murderous cut. In a deck that runs 8 fetches, i have a new found respect for that card.

3: Shaman of the Great Hunt is THE BEST card in this deck. He just does work. Play him early? hit for 4, counters for everyone! Play him late? CARDS! CARDS EVERYWHERE! yes his toughness is crazy low but after using him i think higher toughness would be dumb, by carefully trading your creatures, you can turn anything into a threat and drawing 4 cards at the end of each of your opponents turns is crazy!
