Niv Mizzet Notes First thing about this deck is I'm seeing a ton of instants in here. Not a bad thing given the commander, but instants are typically costed to be more expensive due to their speed. The goal isn't just to draw cards in this deck, it's to draw cards with synergy out. Each spell in our current itteration is going to deal 2 damage to someone or something (approximately). Not a lot. Also you bullshitted me when you said there weren't that many couterspells in this deck. This is (relative to most other decks) a metric fuckton of counterspells. A handful of counterspells are good, but counterspells typically go one for one in card value and you have a very narrow window to use them. They aren't proactive and do not win you games. On the other hand things like Tolarian Winds and Ghyrson Starn are exactly what we're looking for. I'm going to remove a lot of these counter spells and some of the smaller draw to get us a lot of big ticket draw to deal a lot of damage. With a handful of more impactful draw spells, we don't have to gum up the deck with Opt or Ponder. Instead we can put in some ramp, creatures, and protection.
